Return to Peoria Update

Hi All,
This started out as a poor day. Jerry had a fever last evening and a restless night. In the morning I called the doctor because of his fever and the way he felt. Doctor had us go to the hospital and have blood drawn. The results of that were good. WBC 20660 (Norm 4-10) still high, but much better than the 26,900 on 1/31. (Sharp eyed people may notice that norms are different from those I've given before. Different labs have slightly different norms and this was done at Proctor while the 1/31 labs were sent from the doctor's office to St. Francis.) Hemoglobin 12.3 (norm 13.5-17.5) and Hematocrit 38.4 (Norm 41-53). These are up even from the 5/1 post-transfusion reports of 10.4 and 32.1, which were done at Proctor and so had the same norms. After hearing of the good labs he seemed to perk up, took a long walk with Louise and then rode with us on an errand and stop to get ice cream sundaes. He sat with us at a picnic table and ate all of his.
Tonight we went to a fish fry where he had a whole catfish, baked potato, and cole slaw. Right now he is riding the exercise bike for the first time since before we went to New York. He is taking it slow and will do it just a short time on this first try.
Yesterday was good also until late evening. He took 3 walks and ate a picnic supper that Louise organized on Grandview Drive looking out over the river.
Louise has been so helpful. Was there a good part of the day he had the transfusion, giving me a chance to go take a walk and have a little time to myself. She stops by every day and encourages him to keep active. Please keep praying.
Jimbo called tonight; he is not able to get away the weekend of 10-13 when a lot of the Augustine's will be here, but is planning to visit soon.
Love, Mom/Colleen
