Raine was the only child to the Gokuraku family. Even though the family was not as wealthy as some others, the Gokuraku's were considered to be of higher class and were well respected in the Diamond Storm community. But one day the colony was attacked by the Imperial Army, and Raine was separated from her parents. She wandered a great distance after taking cover from the battle and stayed in a cave up in the mountains. She then started her journey to seek revenge on those who had killed her parents and to find her own Zoid.

| Raine took up a great interest in Zoids after seeing the Imperial Army running tests at a nearby base on a red Zaber Fang and the pilot, a boy with black hair and purple eyes and his black organoid. Since that day, Raine has wanted a Zaber Fang of her own. |

|
After discovering her hidden Zoid piloting talents, Raine went searching for a way to purchase a Zoid of her own. During her travels she met another young girl her age, Sunlight Jigoku. Sunlight was a rich spoiled snob at first, but Raine quickly befriended the girl and Sunlight purchased Raine's first Zoid, the yellow Zaber Fang. Now Raine and Sunlight travel together with Sunlight's silver Gustav transporter that tows a platform carrying Kat (the Zaber Fang) and Sunlight's Raynos.
