ZL1UO Amateur Radio/Travel Site
Things come and things go and this site went very slowly if not not at all.  Like many things they all take time and internet time suffered due to the house renovation and sale.

We are finally off and travelling around Australia for 5 or so years starting on 29 june 2008 and here I will keep pages of my portable Amateur radio operations.  What works and what doesn't, the things we see and the radio things I do and hear.

I have enjoyed portable operations ever since I got into HF in ZL.  Mostly because I loved the outdoors and loved getting to those wonderfully quiet places where you can hear so much more.  Talking the lenght and breadth of Zl and some VK on 80m with a 2 or 3m high dipole on 2.5 wats is so exciting.

The initial equipment taken with me is a bunch of wire cut to a raft of bands in half wave form, my trusty Yaesu ft-817, an amplifier for the odd occasion couplers and tuner.  The biggest bit of Amateur gear turned out to be the toolbox.  This gear is shown on another page along with one for the couplers.

I'll add a Blog and actually update it this time instead of getting it dropped by yahoo.  This is where I'll update my portable operations and contacts made.

Please peruse and enjoy my travels with me for the next five or more years
