Padmé Naberrie Amidala, senator of the planet Naboo, arrived to Coruscant. At the spaceport a bomb exploded and she was killed. But only her double was killed. The real Padmé was disguised as an escort, so she survived the attempt on her life.
Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was discussing with his adviser. He just got the news about the failed attempt on senator Padmé. He was preparing for the deciding vote in the Senate. In the last years the crises in the Republic got more and more serious. On the other hand the Jedi Knights were less and less in control of the events in the Republic. About some ten years ago he lose the vote in the senate to establish a Republic army. In the last years he was thoroughly preparing a second vote about this. At the same time the vote was also about giving him much more political powers and the supreme command of the Republic army. The vote would be the next day. Yoda came to Palpatine. He was trying one last time to persuade Palpatine to change his mind about the vote. But Palpatine became in the last years more and more powerful. To powerful for Yodas taste, he was afraid that the things would go out of control. Palpatine told that he had some intelligent information that the Tusken Empire was behind the attempt on senator Padmé. Yoda doubted the information, he had a very frightful suspicion that Palpatine in a way could be behind the attempt, because this attempt could turn the vote in the senate in his favor. Palpatine suggested, because he was concerned about the safety of Padmé, that Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice Anakin Skywalker should be her bodyguards until she is in danger. Yoda agreed with him.
Padmé had a meeting with her advisers. She just came from Naboo for the vote tomorrow. The political situation on Naboo was very complex. In the last years Naboo became part of the crises zone. There were a lot of conflicts with the neighboring planets. In the crises zone some planets joined together and formed a powerful force. They built a small army and established a fragile stability in the crises zone. They separated themselves from the Republic and created an independent Empire - the Tusken Empire. In those years Naboo also built a small army, but only for self defense. The Tusken Empire tried to persuade Naboo to join them. If Naboo with it's army would join the Empire, then the Empire would have a powerful army which would be a dangerous threat for that part of the Republic. But If Naboo would not join the Empire then the Empire would probably attack Naboo to get hold of its army and other resources. Naboo was divided between the advocates and opponents of joining the Tusken Empire. But no one on Naboo was fond of a Republic army. They were more afraid of a powerful Republic army then of the Empire. For now the opponents, which were also the Queen and senator Padmé, had the majority, because Naboo, as a political and economical powerful planet, was very proud of its independence. They believed that they army was powerful enough to defend them against the Empire and they still believed that the Jedis could solve the crises. But they were afraid that, if there would be a Republic army, they would lose their independence and the Republic would become a dictatorship. So if the Republic Senate would vote for the Republic army then Naboo advocates would get the majority and Naboo would join the Empire. Because of this complex political situation Padmé became one of the leaders of the opposition in the Republic Senate, who were strictly against the Republic army. The attempt on her life at the spaceport and the rumors that the Tusken Empire stood behind the attempt, ruined her politically. She would lose some senators who were already not very much convinced to vote against the Republic army and who would now after the attempt be more afraid of the danger of the Tusken Empire.
After the meeting Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker joined Padmé. Padmé recognized Obi-Wan Kenobi, but Anakin Skywalker she saw for the first time. They liked each other on first sight but they didn't show that. Anakin Skywalker was already a powerful Jedi and he knew that. He was becoming more and more self-confident and arrogant. Obi-Wan Kenobi had a lot of trouble to keep him under control.
That evening when Padmé was at sleep there was another attempt on her life. The two Jedis saved her the last moment. They began to follow the assassin. There was a spectacular chase through the city with their flying cars. At the end they got the assassin. But before they could get some information from her, she was killed by Jango Fett who killed her from a large distance with a special missile.
The next morning Anakin Skywalker was by Palpatine. Palpatine often called Anakin to talk with him. He liked him, he liked the power in him. He knew that in the future he would have problems with the Jedis so he would need a powerful Jedi on his side. In these meetings he prepared Anakin for the role. It was not difficult because Anakin loved power and he was already convinced by himself that the Republic needed a more powerful leadership and a powerful army.
Before the vote in the Senate Padmé had a fantastic speech to persuade the senators to vote against the Republic army. But it was hopeless. Palpatine got the majority. He was very satisfied. Yoda wasn't.
Yoda called Obi-Wan Kenobi to him. He told him that his task would be to find out who was behind the attempt on Padmé. If he found out that Palpatine stood behind the attempt and if he could prove it then there was still hope that the Senate would annul todays decision. Yoda gave also orders to Obi-Wan that Anakin should go with Padmé back to Naboo to protect her for the next some months and that there would be also a secret mission for Anakin on Naboo. He should carefully watch the political situation there and report back to Yoda. The most important reason that Yoda wanted Anakin on Naboo was that Anakin would be far away from Palpatine at this critical time. He and the other High Master Jedis didn't like the friendship between Anakin and Palpatine.
Padmé and Anakin were going disguised back to Naboo, to prevent another attempt on her life. Back on Naboo they had a admission with the Queen and her advisers. After the two attempts on Padmé and the vote in the Senate Naboo was in a political turmoil with a lot of wild emotions. Padmé was the key person of this turmoil. So the Queen suggested that Padmé should retreat to her province residence for some months, where she could rest and wait until the political situation would calm down. Padmé didn't like the suggestion, but she wasn't aloud to contradict the Queen. She knew that this was the first small victory of the advocates of joining the Tusken Empire, who just wanted to eliminate her from the political scene in this critical time. Padmé and Anakin went to her province residence.
Obi-Wan Kenobi had the missile with which the assassin was killed. He found out that the missile was very special. It was not a standard missile made from standard material. It was made on planet Kamino. Not everyone could afford such a missile. Kamino was a planet which was not part of the Republic. It was at the edge of the galaxy, very far away from the boundaries of the Republic. On kamino they were very good at producing high tech war equipment. In the last thousands years of the Republic they didn't sell so much as before, but enough to keep them producing the army goods. They hoped for better days.
Padmé and Anakin were at her province residence. They enjoyed it. Slowly they felt in love with each other, but they still tried to resist it. Together they visited several spectacular places.
Obi-Wan Kenobi visited Kamino. He was surprised when he heard that he was expected. They didn't expect exactly him, but some representative of the Republic. He was told that about some ten years ago they started to build a large and powerfull army. They also build the soldiers who where fast growing clones. And now it was almost finished. They showed him around their facilities. He could see the warriors, different equipment and also holopictures of the starcruisers. It was magnificent. Obi-Wan Kenobi asked them who ordered this army. They answered that no one. They were all the time closely watching the Republic - their market. And about some ten years ago their analitics foresaw that in nearby future the Republic would need a powerful army. So they started to build it, so they would have it when the Republic would wanted to buy it from them. Obi-Wan Kenobi didn't believe them. It was a nice diplomatic way of saying that they would not reveal the person who ordered this army. Then Obi-Wan Kenobi tried in a diplomatic way to find some more information about the special missile - he liked the technology and would like to order such missiles also for some special Republic forces. He found out that they made this kind of missiles only for one person - Jango Fett. Jango Fett was also the origin of al the clones for the army. He was paid well for this, and they made also a personal clone for him - Boba Fett who was growing normal and not fast as the other clones. They told him that he was at that moment in his department on Kamino.
Anakin couldn't sleep well for the last weeks. He had nightmares about his mother. The feeling that she was in terrible pain grew stronger and stronger. So he decided that he would go to Tatooine for some days to visit his mother and to see if she was well. Padmé decided that she would go with him. He didn't like that, but he couldn't persuade her not to go.
Obi-Wan Kenobi visited Jango Fett. They talked politely about unimportant things, but the tension in the air was very high. Jango Fett knew that Obi-Wan knew that he killed the assassin. After Obi-Wan left, Jango Fett started to pack to leave immediately whit his clonal son.
Anakin and Padmé arrived on Tatooine. Anakin found out that some years ago a man bought her freedom and married her. Before that she was a slave. They lived on a small farm in the desert. They were happy together. But some time ago the sand people kidnapped her. There was nothing her husband could do about it, especially as he had an injured leg. She was probably already dead. Anakin was very chocked and angry.
Obi-Wan Kenobi sent a brief message back to Yoda about what he found on Kamino. Then he went after Jango Fett to catch him so they could interrogate him on Coruscant. He got on the spaceport where Jango Fett was preparing to leave. There was a spectacular fight between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jango Fett. Jango Fett wounded Obi-Wan and escaped with the help of his son who was already in his spaceship. Before he escaped Obi-Wan succeeded in putting a transmitter on his ship so the Jedis could in the future locate his ship and find him. Then Obi-Wan went back to Coruscant.
In the evening Anakin went to the desert to find his mother. He had the feeling that she was still alive. He found her as a prisoner in a camp of the sand people. He untied her. She was still alive and very happy when she saw him. Then she died in his arms. Anakin was very sad but also very angry and frustrated. He was the most powerful Jedi and still he couldn't save her mother. He became more and more angry. Then he exploded. He took his lightsaber and killed all the sand people, man, woman and also kids. It was a massacrer which produced a shock wave through the Force in the galaxy. Yoda could feel it. Obi-Wan Kenobi could feel it. Anakin was back before morning at the farm. Padmé found him. He was emotionally ruined. He verbally attacked Padmé when explaining what happened. She was shocked, but she felt pity for him. They buried her mother and went back to Naboo.
There was a meeting by Yoda on Coruscant. All the High Master Jedis were there. Obi-Wan Kenobi was also there. They were discussing the situation which was getting out of their hands. Palpatine got his power and army and the very bad news was that Kamino had the army already prepared for him to buy. Anakin was more and more lost. The Dark side of the Force was becoming more and more powerful in the galaxy. The Jedis could feel it grow. The Jedis tracked the signal of Jango Fett to the Tusken Empire, but there they lost the signal. The Jedis that were undercover in the Empire would try to locate Jango Fett again. It was very important that they got him. They also decided that they would leave Anakin on Naboo, far away from Coruscant and Palpatine.
Several months later. It was the end of autumn and the beginning of winter on Naboo. Anakin and Padmé became secretly lovers. They didn't like it, they tried to stop with it several times but love was to powerful. That day there would be a vote in the parliament about joining the Tusken Empire. Anakin and Padmé observed the session. The parliament voted that Naboo should join the Tusken Empire. The Queen would make the formal decision based on this vote. Padmé was very sad about the vote, but she could understand it. Anakin was angry, he saw the decision as an attack on the Republic, on his Republic. The two of them had a fight about it.
The Jedis located Jango Fett in the Tusken Empire. Obi-Wan Kenobi was sent to catch him. Jango Fett had a meeting with a general of the Tusken Empire. He was given a delicate mission, but he would be payed very well. Formally he would go to Naboo as one of several army advisers that the Empire would sent to Naboo to accommodate its army to the Empires army. But his real mission would be to assassinate the generals in the Naboo army who were opposed to joining the Empire. Jango Fett and his clonal son flew to Naboo in their spaceship. Obi-Wan Kenobi intercepted them not far away from Naboo. There was a spectacular space battle, also in a asteroid bell. Obi-Wan managed to damage Jangos spaceship, so Jango had to made an emergency landing on a nearby planet. The planet was rarely populated and it was under the jurisdiction of Naboo. Jango tried to escape with his son, but Obi Wan was close behind him. There was a spectacular chase and fight. Obi Wan was close to disabling Jango, when Jango was killed by the Storm Troopers of the Republic Army. The Republic army invaded the planet. They were preparing to seize Naboo. The Storm Troopers killed Jango, while they thought that Obi-Wan was in danger. Obi-Wan was skeptical about the explanation. He was so close to Jango and the important informations and he lost it. Boba Fett escaped.
There was panic on Naboo. The Republic army attacked Naboo. Anakin was glad about it. Padmé was heavily shocked about Anakin being glad. They had a heavy fight with each other. The Naboo army had no chance against the Republican army, they were completely surprised by the attack. The spectacular battle around Naboo was quickly ended. The Storm Troopers landed on Naboo and the Republic army took control over Naboo. They deposed the Queen and released the parliament. Naboo became an army protectorate of the Republic. Anakin, still angry on Padmé, went of the planet, with the escort that came for him, to the largest star cruiser which was in command of the battle. There on the deck he met Palpatine, who was very proud of the succeeded battle. Anakin was also proud.
The Republic army attacked the Tusken Empire. The Empire army had enough time to prepare for the attack. The battle was very heavy and long lasting. It was a spectacular battle in deep space. After several thousands years of peace the Republic was again witness to great scale war. The Republic army was stronger. The Tusken Empire was soon destroyed. It was a great victory for the Republic army.
Some months later, when the Republic army established complete control over the former Tusken Empire, there was a spectacular army parade on and around Coruscant. Coruscant was celebrating the victory. A strong and powerful Republic was born. It was a very dark day for the Jedis.
