The Jingpo Nationality
The Jingpo nationality has a population of 119,000. Most of Jingpo people live in Yunnan Province.

The ancestors of Jingop people inhabited the southern part of the Xikang-Tibetan Plateau in ancient time. The ethnic group was also called Zaiwa or Laqi.

Their spoken language belongs to the Chinese-Tibetan language system of the Tibetan-Burmese family. Their written language is an alphabetic system of writing based on Latin letters.

Agriculture is the main occupation of the Jingpo people. They grow corns, rice, and coffee. The Jingpo region is rich in forest resources.
