Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never, ever the same
Mary was one of those people. |

I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. He refered to the dates on her tombstone From the beginning ... to the end
He noted that first came her date of birth, And he spoke the death date with tears, But he said what mattered most of all, Was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time, That she had spent alive on earth... And now only those that loved her, know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own; The cars... the house... the cash. What matters is how we live and love And how we spend our dash
So think about this long and hard, Are there things that we would like to change? For you never know how much time is left, That can be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough, To consider what's true and real. And always try to understand The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger, And show appreciation more And love the people in our lives Like we have never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect, And more often wear a smile. Remember that this special dash might only last a little while.
So when your eulogy's read, With your life'saction to rehash. Would you be proud of the things they say About how you spend your dash?

A person told me a while back this little bit of information and I think this is the place to pass it on to you. They say that when you lose your parents you lose your past. When you lose your children you lose your future. But when you lose a spouse you lose your present. I have lost both parents and know that that is true, and now I have lost Mary and know that that is true also. I hope I do not lose any children. For it is suppose to be that the children bury the parents, not the parents to bury the children
