The fish page...

I just got some new fish tonight (01/10/04)...originally, most of these fish were all in a 29 gal in the bedroom.

-3 pictus catfish

-2 blue gourami

-1 orange gourami

-1 tiger barb

-1 ghost knife

-2 plecos

*Newbies*:

-3 blue gourami

-2 tiger barbs

-2 angel fish

I'll get some more fish eventually, not many more though...don't want to overcrowd.

-Probably get 4 more orange gouramis (homeboy needs some friends)

-Something neat for scavenging, probably some ghost shrimp or something

-Maybe add one or two more angels

-Finally...maybe some more smaller (but not too small) fish, maybe more barbs or something

I bet though once I get the 4 orange gouramis, space is gonna be scarce...have to wait and see.

The tank's equipment...

Originally, it had a Tetratec PF300 filter with heating capsule. I thought it was great at first. Then the heating capsule went out -> bought new one. The filter's enormous size continued to aggravate me (I'd have to partially remove the left hood in order to turn the light on or off because the filter's girth budged up against the light switch). Then, recently, the filter started leaking. (My floor's still wet from three days ago.) I now am running a Whisper Advanced Power Filter 40-60 (bought because a) my other two tanks have Whispers and have never given me problems, and b) the new "Advanced" models have biological filtration as well as chemical), and a Tetra submersible heater lays at the bottom rear of the tank (cleverly hidden by foliage/driftwood). All the plants are artificial...I like 'real' plants but I've had too many problems with them in past attempts *sigh*.

I feed them TetraMin flakes, Hikari Algae food discs, and Hikari Blood Worms.

Anyhow...pictures!

Here is a piece of artwork I made myself. Yes, it's primitive in design nature, but I think it looks cool. Besides, I wanted something original & in a fish topic (of course), to go above the aquarium rather than having a blan white wall. Made with Adobe Illustrator CS. Everything done by self including the fish drawing; the kanji was downloaded as a .jpg and traced/made vector in Illustrator by me. ;^)

2 old blue gourami, 1 old tiger barb, 1 new angel fish

old pleco #1, about 5"

old pleco #2 (he's there, sorta hard to see though), about 4.5"

ghost knife...he hides in his tree trunk most of the time, have to measure him later at feeding time =) (i'd guess he's about 6-7" long)

old orange gourami, roughly 3"

old pictus catfish (1 of 3, all about same size...about 4" in length)

the 2 new tiger barbs (weenie sized, maybe 1/2")

old blue gourami #1, about 4" in length

old blue gourami #2, about 4" in length, old tiger barb roughly 1", one of the new blue gourami

</end for now>
