Other News: My Wife and I have been trying to adopt a baby for a while now, and the car had to go. We ended up selling the conversion to help fund our adoption efforts. We have now adopted a beautiful baby boy so now its my job to get him to help me build up other volkswagen sitting in our garage. Thanks to everyone for their support in these matters and I hope that I have been a source of inspiration to some of you fabricators out there. 3.31.2005 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Replaced the 38mm venturies in my weber 48 carb with some 35mm ones. I can actually floor it without bogging! Lots more power too. I also just got stopped by the cops for my exhaust being too loud. The cop said that he stopped me for modified exhaust. I said "If I put the stock exhaustfrom this engine onto this car, the muffler would be 3 feet in front of the car" You should have seen the look at his face! he said that It was too loud. I statd that I had 2 mufflers on it and I don't have room for another. Then the cop said "do you know how what the law is?" I said "95 decibles, can you prove that I am over 95 decibles?" he couldn't. So, he just walked back to his car and I got away without any fixit tickets! hehe, cool.... 4.8.2003 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I put up a message board so you guys can give me feedback. Post your pictures of your non-VW powered VW's up on the message board. 12.6.2002 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yea, Finally an update! I just installed a Weber 48IDA carb, replacing the Dellorto 45 DRLA. Now this car moves! I gave a buddy of mine that had just built a fully built 1914cc engine a ride and I impressed him! That makes me feel pretty good. I am looking into upgrading the iginition to an MSD Direct Fire setup. This should give me a few more horses. Basically, this setup will connect the coils to the spark plugs (bypassing the Distributer cap) and give me a hotter spark. I want to drag it now to see what it runs. I raced it before (May-2002) , with my fiance riding with me, and a slipping clutch and ran a 15.1 sec with no traction. So I believe that this would be a mid 14 second car now (although it feels a lot faster). 10.7.2002 |
