The concept for this fight came up as Zarber and Erc's trip to ConnectiCon 2006 was fast approching. Zarber suggested to Erc that it would be cool to perform a lightsaber fight live at the convention. Erc met the idea with much relishment and was all for it. The convention gave them the oppertunity to display their saber mastery in front of large groups of their fellow nerds. With less than two weeks 'til the convention, the two fighters began to scramble to think up and practice complex and entertaining fight choreography. With Erc's handcrafted lightsabers in hand, the two began to practice day and night, through rain and shine, with the hopes that people would look at them and say, "Wow, those guys can kick some ass".

Unfortunately it turned out that according to Connecticut state laws a dowel rod is apparently a weapon; after being politely declined by the people running the convention, the fight was canceled.  Flash forward to spring 2007, when the practice picks up again.  Both combatants felt it would be a shame for all their hard work to be for naught, and so it was agreed that the fight would be re-imagined (and significantly lengthened) for use in a saber-fight Fan Film.  To that end both another combatant and a double-saber have been added (if not yet successfully integrated).

The video clips below chronicle each of the major phases of this fight's conception.
Please keep in mind that this fight was originally designed to be performed live. This means the combatants would not have the previlege of quick cuts, computer processed special effects, or any other type of trick photography. The fighters needed to be able to perform the fight in its entirety in a single take. Starting with the fifth video, this begins to change.  But for the most part, everything is very real.
