The Nationwide Premiership Trophy

Welcome to the inagural season of the Nationwide Premier League (NPL). The NPL is a division in Major Fantasy League Soccer (MFLS). MFLS is an internet fantasy soccer league based on the results and statistics of Major League Soccer(MLS). Participants select a roster of MLS players and a coach. Points are awarded based on the player's performance in actual MLS matches.

The Nationwide Premiership Trophy is rewarded to the team that is top of the table when the MFLS season is over. 32 teams will compete over 28 MFLS Weeks until one winner is left standing alone at the top. The table on the right will keep track of the leaders throughout the season. Who will be the inagural champion?

News - August 18, 2004

The Champions League continued this week with the second set of matches in Group Play. Zooropa Statix FC defeated Dream Team by a score of 23 : 5. With the win, Zooropa Statix FC earned a spot in the Quarterfinals. With a 5 : 34 thumping, New Bedford Knights lost an important matchup against Slammers VI. New Bedford Knights will now need some help on the final week of Group Play in order to qualify for the Quarterfinals.

The Nationwide Premiership is becoming a two horse race as Zooropa Statix FC keeps chipping away at New Bedford Knights lead as he now holds only a 2 point edge over Zooropa Statix FC.

New Bedford Knights defeated Portland Red Tide in the second leg of their semi-final matchup in the Silversmiths Cup by a score 5 : -6. It wasn't enough as New Bedford Knights lost out on the Goal Aggregate 17 : 21.

The Cup Winners Cup will begin on MFLS Week 22 with Mohawks representing the Nationwide Premier League.

Congrats to both Mohawks and Causmos who both received a Qualifying Bid in next year's 2005 Mug'O'Suds Invitational Cup.

Congrats to Ajax Orlando and their run in the Mug'O'Suds Invitational Cup. Ajax Orlando finished just two goals short of a semi-final spot.

Nationwide FA Cup

The Nationwide FA Cup is an inagural competition open to all 32 teams of the Nationwide Premier League. Along with the FA Cup, the winner will earn the right to compete for the MFLS Cup Winners Cup as a representative of the NPL and will face off against other Cup winners from participating MFLS divisions.

The Nationwide FA Cup begins Week 4 of the MFLS Season. All 32 teams are divided into eight groups of four for the first stage of the competition. The eight group winners and eight group runner-ups will then enter the second stage of the tournament consisting of a knockout round.

Nationwide FA Cup Winner: Mohawks - Todd Bevan

The Champions League is an inter-divisional tournament featuring the best teams from many different MFLS divisions. The tournament will begin week 18 or 20 of the MFLS season, depending on the number of participating divisions. One week prior to the start of the Champions League, the "champions" will be determined.

At that time, the team at the top of the table in each participating division will receive a CL berth. Therefore, the team that is in first place in the Nationwide Premier League will win an automatic berth and face off against other "champions" from other participating MFLS divisions to determine an ultimate winner.

Additional "at large" berths will then be given out to the remaining teams in participating divisions that have the highest MFLS scores. So, our division could earn another spot if one our teams do very well in the overall MFLS rankings.
