The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, previously called Zelda: Gaiden and Zelda: Mask of Mujula,
is the sequel to the video game hit The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. Many people may
dismiss this game because they think it is just another Ocarina of Time with slightly modified
dungeons and such, but that is not the case. This is a completely different game. It doesn't
just have modified areas, but completely new ones with new puzzles, dungeons, locations, and
items. The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time was, for the most part, an Adventure type of
game. Majora's Mask is more of an RPG/Adventure game. It is this way because you have to talk
to a lot of people and solve their problems to get items. You have to interact with the
characters of the game in order to fully experience the events in Majora's Mask. You even get
a notebook to keep track of all the people you talk to and help. You don't get nearly as many
full hearts in Majora's Mask than you did in Ocarina of Time, so you really have to search long
and hard and use your brain to solve the many puzzles that eventually lead to hearts. This game
also has 24 masks to collect. Each of them can help you solve some problem or quest in your
journey. There are quite a few trading sequences in Majora's Mask also. Some take the entire
3-day period to complete.
After all of that, you still might say that there's only 4 dungeons. You probably would think
that it isn't a very long game with only 4 dungeons. Even with very few dungeons, it is a very
long game. I was surprised at how much there is to do and how long it takes you to complete
some of the side quests and dungeons. For some of the things you have to do in the game, three
days is barely enough even when you slow the time down. Some perfect examples are the 2nd and
3rd dungeons. The bosses aren't as simple as the ones in Ocarina of time. They take a lot of
damage before defeat. The ones I've seen so far have taken at least 20 hits before their demise.
This game doesn't start you out with easy dungeons like Ocarina of Time did either. You start
out with hard dungeons, and they only get harder. Some are even mind-boggling. Finding all the
Stray Fairies is no easy task either. It takes a lot of time, which is something this game
doesn't give you. The story of the game is very good also. Many claim that it is better than the
story behind Ocarina of Time. I thought the story behind Ocarina of Time was great! I don't
know about the story behind Majora's Mask, because I haven't beaten it yet, but so far, the story
is pretty good, but I don't think it's as good as Ocarina of Time's story. The cinematic
sequences are good and so are the graphics. The play control is the same as it was for Ocarina
of Time, but you also get extra moves for the other characters you become by using the masks.
The sound of this game is also good. The music goes well with the places and events, and you see
many of the same themes from Ocarina of Time thrown into Majora's Mask. You even see some past
tunes, which I won't tell you about. You have new songs to learn and the Zelda Overworld Theme
has finally returned in all its glory. It is a revised and remixed version, but it is still very
much like the original. Overall, I'd say this is a great game and definately is one you should
get. Don't underestimate the challenge or size of this game. It is very hard and it takes a
long time to beat. This will truly be one of the gems of the Zelda series. The game shines from
the game play, sound, graphics, challenge, and story, and the outside of the cartridge also
shines like 1 million dollars. If you don't have it yet, get it. You may not see another game
like this for a long time.
