JASON ATOMIC
80S PICS
People alway seem to find the fashion, the faces, the clubs etc... as
periferal to the music scene but for me, for us I suppose, it was never
really about the music.
For me it was, still is, about the wearing of clothes you love regardless of  fashion taste or decency, the magicks of glamour and fetish, the smell of the make-up, of seeing but not seeing of beening seen and not seen, the vibrant lucid dream effect of being surrounded by glittering, intoxicated, beautiful creatures, subcultural icons and even mythic archetypes.
I loved the music/I still do but I'd have been there just the same be it for Mozart or Motorhead for Hip Hop, Psychedellia, Punk, Disco whatever....
I'll dance to any kind of music but for fashion it must be my style, my taste non-genre specific or deliberately referential, even traditionalist, I dress to please me wether it be the sensual pleasure of silk and cashmere, purrrr, or the satiation of more esoteric needs.
Fashion tip; If the style you like comes into mainstream fashion (don't  worry) wait until the overkill and buy it up cheap in the sale, you'll still  like it and the fashion sheep only have a six month attention span (if that)  so it won't matter to them if it was trendy or not because they won't  remember.
