This is a truly gorgeous watercolor, signed by the artist

Gong Bi Chen. Painted in 1988, it depicts in fine detail

a mother cat bathing her kitten, surrounded by vines and

leaves. The leaves and the two cats' faces are particularly

well done. It measures 17" by 18", unmounted and

unframed, and is done on the traditional medium of

rice paper. The rice paper does have some slight

crinkling, and it has been repaired on the cat's paw, but

neither of these detracts from the overall beauty of this

marvelous piece. Gong Bi Chen is a famous Chinese artist,

and has been exhibited in Beijing. This will make a lovely
