A Brief Biography of Yuan Dun

Yuan Dun was born in a poor family in south of Yan in China in 1950. Having been a laborer, farmer, merchant, scholar and soldier, he eventually dedicated himself to the search of Dharma. He went to different places to seek instructions from spiritual masters all over China. Enjoying roaming, he got enlightened owing to a wise master's guidance. After that he left family life but didn't live in a temple. Wearing a cashmere cap, he looks like neither a Buddhist monk nor a Taoist priest. Self-reliant, he lives in seclusion in remote mountains in the East Forest to practice spirituality with great concentration.

He doesn't advocate his disciples participating in any organized religious activities. Instead, he asks them, through things of daily life to cultivate their hearts and uplift themselves in morals, to observe their minds on the standpoint of pure consciousness, to get enlightened by cultivating their moral character, to transform the material body by means of real practice in person and attain spiritual perfection directly. Telling in a plain and easy way, he has created a unique Buddhist style.
