A.  Retrograde

Distance Earth from Jupiter on Feb 06, 2005 is 672,832,700 km, The Earth below Jupiter in the sky.

On March 06, 2005, Jupiter distance 650,590,800 km.  The Earth  below Jupiter in the sky.

On March 20, 2005, Jupiter distance 635,702,650 km.  The Earth below Jupiter in the sky

On April 03, 2005, Jupiter distance 629,070,000 km. The Earth the same direction with Jupiter

On April 17, 2005, Jupiter distance 631,418,900 km.  The Earth below Jupiter in the sky

On May 01, 2005, Jupiter distance 642,535,300 km.  The Earth below Jupiter in the sky

On May 15, 2005, Jupiter distance 661,677,500 km.  From Jupiter, The Earth Phases seen crescent at west since May 02. 2005 .  

May 01, Distance Earth from Sun is 149,788,000 km and Distance Jupiter from Sun is 778,412,100 km.

Next,  May 29, Distance Earth from Sun is  150,268,500 km and Jupiter from Sun is 778,414,500 km.

Distance Earth from Sun is  change significant .

So, Why Retrograde ?   a). Jupiter Retrograde happen when Earth relative turn to the left in orbit to sun but Jupiter in length orbit relative straight.

b).Illustration image upside  explain us that Retrograde all planet happen when Earth Map rotate backward to the Left (to east).  If The World Map Rotate to the right (to west) is  leaves. ( Mars Retrograde is the easy sample explain)

B.  After Retrograde

Since June 05, 2005. Earth revolved  to the left  leave out Jupiter. The Phases of Earth from Jupiter rotate finish 180 degree on August 07, 2005 since Feb 06, 2005 in the same place.
