December 13, 1988 marks the anniversary of Lubavitch’s court victory, for the return of the books of the Agudas Chasidei Chabad Library. After a long battle, the library books which were stolen from the library were ordered to be returned. The day is celebrated now by Lubavitcher chassidim adding to their libraries. With this thought in mind, many new books have been ordered for Yossi's library.
Yossi's Lending Library will be opening to the whole Richmond Jewish community in the next few weeks. Please check back here to find out more information.
Yossi's library fund has basically run out of money. If you would like to donate money, you can send funded paypal to K_Laydee@hotmail.com Please note that this is not tax deductible. I would also like to point out that 100% of the money raised goes to the books. There is absolutely none taken for over-head or any administrative purposes. If you would like to send a check, the money can be sent directly to Yossi's mom, or deposited directly into his bank account. Please contact Leah at the previously mentioned email address for more information. Finally, if you would like to donate books, feel free to! We can always use more. Yossi Chaim's Lending Library now has over 600 books between the seforim, Jewish novels, and secular novels.
This library was created in loving memory of my son, Yosef Chaim ben Michoel Dovid who passed away just six weeks shy of his bar mitzvah. Yossi battled cancer first in 1997 at the tender age of 9. He had a bone marrow transplant, and was considered cured. In October 2000, Yossi Chaim suffered a relapse of his leukemia. A second transplant was attempted almost 3 years to the day from his first transplant. Sadly, Yossi's pure and holy soul was returned on March 10, 2001 (16th of Adar). Yossi loved to read. This library serves the Yeshiva of Virginia and the Richmond Community. It is our families hope that his love of reading will live on in those who pick up these books and enjoy them.
