This beautiful Oklahoma lake was created in 1940 with the completion of the Penascola Dam on Grand (or Neosho) River. The massive reservoir holds 59,200 surface acres of water at an average surface level of 740 feet above sea level. The shore line is 1,300 miles long with over 60 miles winding through the foothills of the Ozarks. The Penascola Dam is the longest multiple arch dam in the world. Free tours daily from May thru September.

Grand Lake is a great area for retirement and relocation. Revitialization of historic residential areas and the design of new developments have created numerous options.The Grand Lake area offers a great selection of existing housing in a variety of styles to purchase, rent or lease. From condominiums, single-family residences and retirement villages. Grand Lake also ranks favorably on cost of taxes and housing.

CHEROKEE QUEEN I & II:  The Cherokee Queen has been one of the most popular and unique attractions since she was assembled and launched in 1945. She is a twin decked 67' boat and is really reminiscent of the heyday of riverboats on the Mississippi River. The Cherokee Queen II is 108' long, 47' high and weighs 168 tons. She can accommodate 390 passengers for dinner. Three decks, two dance floors, three snack bars and beautiful wood paneling add to the attractive decor throughout. The Cherokee Queen II was honored as the "Attraction of the Year" by the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association in 1989. Air-conditioning and heating assure comfort in any kind of weahter. A delicious buffet served on dinner cruises and special charters features beef, chicken, fresh salads and delicious deserts. The Cherokee Queens' docking area is located at Sailboat Bridge in Grove.While waiting for the next departure the Cherokee Landing has ample room with a snack bar and gift shop to enjoy. HAR-BER VILLAGE:Has grown into one of the largest antique museums in the United States since it began in 1968. It is a reconstructed turn-of-the-century village with over one-hundred buildings and collections. One of the most popular attractions in the Grand Lake area-attracting over four-hundred thousand visitors each year. The grounds are covered with display after display of antique farm implements, a waterwheel and other treasures from the late 1800's to 1900's. Har-Ber Village is free and open from 9AM to 6PM, seven days a week from March 1 to November 30.

GRAND LAKE OPRY: Is a country music variety show of new and traditional country music, gospel, patriotic music and comedy. Guests from the Nashbille's Grand Ole Opry and Bransons's Grand Palace Theater appear throughout the year. The Grand Lake Opry complex includes the Cherokee Queen excursion boats, Pelican Restaurant and Grand Ole Diner.      Regular season shows are at 3PM and 8PM, April-October. Special shows are scheduled throughout the year with gospel and Christmas shows in November and December and a big New Year's Eve show.

KOUNTRY KUZINS:  The show has deligited Grand Lake audiences with lively country & western music, old fashion gospel singing and homespun comedy for over a decade. It's great fun for the whole family-a full evening of high energy entertainment. Kountry Kuzins Jamboree show performances are at 8PM form April to October with special   gospel shows in November, Christmas shows in December and a New Year's Eve variety show.

SATSUKI GARDENS:  Visitors will find a touch of the orient behind Lenoard Miller's dental office. He has transformed this acre -plus site into a serene Japanese garden complete with a small koi pond and wooden footbridge. April's azalea display is followed by Japanese iris in May. Hibiscus, Rose of Sharon and tulips trees bloom in the summer. Satsuki Gardens is open year round on weekends only during the daylight hours and admission is FREE.

LENDONWOOD GARDENS:  Visitors will discover rare trees and plants as they explore the four gardens. The Display Garden, includes one of the largest collections-over 200 varities of chamaecyparisin the U.S.and over 200 varities of day lilies among other plants. Cascading waterfalls enliven the Woodland Garden. Rare spruce trees are combined with flowering trees. A distinctive feature of the Japanese Garden is the Kansas-style rock work throughout. April is a good time to enjoy Oklahoma's third largest azalea collection. Special admission is fee.The largest collection of rhododendrons in the Midwest is the main attraction in May. Summer annuals brighten the garden over the summer. Mums, Japanese maples and viburnums put on a colorful show in the fall. Hours are 8AM to 5PM Monday through Thursday, 8AM to 8PM Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults and children under 12 free.

PELICAN FESTIVAL:  This festival celebrates the flocks of American White Pelicans that visit Grand Lake during their annual fall migration. This even is held in September. Events include daily pelican viewing tours, wildlife lectures, food, children's actitives, parade, live music, arts and crafts and more.

CHRISTMAS LANE:  Is a Grand Lake tradition. A holiday light spectacle at Pla-Port Resort. The entire resort becomes a magical wonderland as trees, bushes and life-size Christmas characters are decorated with more than 80,000 lights.

CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA & FLOTILLA:  The annual Pencola Dam Christmas Extravaganza join the Christmas Flotilla on Duck Creek in a spectacular parade and lighting ceremony on the dam. As the Christmas Parade winds across the dam, the Christmas Flotilla dazzles the waters below.

DARRYL STARBIRDS CAR MUSEUM: The National Rod and Custom Car Hall of Fame walls are filled with photos and memorabilia honoring America's top custom car builders and their cars. The collection includes more that 20 exotic vehicles by world-renowned custom builder and designer Darryl Starbird.
