Prospecting for Gold!!!

Hey!, been a long time huh? Well I've been extremely busy with another new job and also a new addition to my family so I haven't been able to go adventuring lately. I finally got some free time to myself and headed to a local stream to see if I could find some color. The picture above is a sluice box (in case you were wondering). There is nothing like setting up a box and shoveling into it for a few hours. It's a great workout, plus there is sometimes a payback. Check out some of the other sites.

Here is a veiw of the creek that I'm prospecting. It is documented a place where one of the first gold rushes in Georgia took place. And believe me, the old timers didn't get all the gold!

The downstream veiw.

The essentials, a good fanny pack, a five gallon bucket, a good gold pan, and lunch!

Well, I shoveled into this sluice box for about 6 hours. I cleaned up three times and took the concentrated material home where I could pan it in the warmth of my garage. I didn't get rich but found a few "flakes" and was truly satisfied with the trip. If you think that this is something that would intrest you, give it a try. Gold can be found in just about every state in the U.S.. Just let me warn you of the "gold bug". Once bitten, theres no cure... Till next time, go outside.. It's a great place to be...
