The Abby D

My current boat is a 1999 Bayliner 2655. I bought this boat used in August of 2003. It had about 200 hours on the 5.7 L engine and came with a BIII out drive. She will sleep 4, has a head, small galley, and two showers. The first modification I did was install a MST Guardian fresh water flushing system on the engine. The boat is stored in a boatel and this is the only way I could flush the salt water out of the engine. Next I installed an hour meter to track engine usage. In the spring of 2004 I installed a Garmin 182C color GPS, and a Xintex CO detector for when I am running my Honda 2000EU generator.  The generator allows me to enjoy a hot shower at the end of the day on the nights I', sleeping "on the hook".  In the spring of 2005 I installed a Navman F2100 fuel  flow meter. With this I can choose the best engine RPM and boat trim to obtain the best fuel economy.  I typically cruise between 25-28 MPH.  The engine is turning around 3200 RPM's and my fuel burn rate is between 9-10 gallons per hour.  Top speed is around 40 MPH. I boat on the Chesapeake Bay and my home port is about 10 miles south of Baltimore on the Magothy River. The boat is named after my granddaughter and is called Abby D

Below left is my boat tied up at a waterfront restaurant in Rock Hall in the summer of 2005.  Below right is a picture from 2004.  I spent the night at Chestertown for the July 4th weekend.

Below left is the helm, and right is the Bravo III out drive.  This is my second boat with a I/O drive.  The duo-prop on the Bravo III makes the boat handle so much better then with a single screw.  The biggest difference is in reverse, as the boat will answer the helm in both directions. This is not the case with an out drive with a single screw.

The picture below on the left is a striped bass or "Rockfish" taken during the spring of 2004.  This was the first time I had been fishing with the Abby D and the first fish I had caught with this boat.  The picture below on the right is a croaker taken in Crisfield on a fishing trip on July 2005.

Below left is the Abby D docked a Somer's Cove Marina in Crisfield, MD in July 2005.  On the right is the sunset God provided as several friends from a Bible study group I am a part of enjoyed the fireworks over Rock Hall Harbor on July 3, 2005.
