Directions to Jacksons Mill

  Traveling I-79 South from Morgantown, WV

Get off I-79 at  Exit 99 "Buckhannon & Weston " US Rt. 33

After exiting Interstate turn right on US Rt. 33 West and travel approx. 2 miles West into the town of Weston.

 

Traveling I-79 North from Charleston, WV

Get off I-79 at Exit 99 "Buckhannon  & Weston" US Rt. 33

After exiting Interstate turn left on US Rt. 33 West and travel approx. 2 miles West into the town of Weston.

Travel US Route 33 West into Weston
Turn Right at 4th stop light  "US Rt. 19 North"
Travel a short distance out of town. (US Rt. 19 N veers to the left. The river will be to your left.) 
After about  4 miles you will come to the intersection of US Rt. 19 & County Rt. 1 or "Jackson's Mill Road"as it is also called. (There is a restaurant called J. M. Family Restaurant at the intersection; and a sign directing you to Jackson's Mill.)

Turn Left off of US Rt. 19 and onto County Rt. 1

 

Follow County Rt. 1 "Jackson's Mill Road" for approximately 2.5 miles. (The West Fork River will still be to your left.) You will come to a "One Lane Bridge".  (Please be careful crossing this bridge. There is a blind curve on the other side and oncoming vehicles may be hard to see.) Cross this bridge and the Historic Area entrance will be about 200 yards on the right. Turn right into the Historic Area of Jackson's Mill. You will notice the General Store as you enter on your right by the Main Gate.

NOTE: If you arrive late this gate may be closed. If so, proceed up the road about 1/4 mile to the second gate and turn right. This Gate Remains open continually. GOING AT A SLOW SPEED, follow the road as it turns to the left and to the top of the hill to a "T" intersection. Turn right and follow the road past the cabins on the right. Just past the last cabin there is a gravel lane to the right.  Turn onto the lane and you will see the General Store parking area. Turn left and go through the parking area gate (You should see tents by now..) into the camp area.

Camp opens on Friday April 4, 3:00 p.m.

   REGISTRATION

   Upon arriving all participants must check in at the Registration Area which will be located in the Mountain State Building. (The log building with the porch beside the pond)

You will be directed as to where to set up and where to park.

 Additional material pertaining to the workshop will also be available.

   SETTING UP CAMP

   1. Vehicles will be permitted in the Historic Area for unloading  between Friday 3:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 AM

   No vehicles will be permitted in the Historic Area after 8:00 AM on Saturday.

     2. Those who plan on arriving on Saturday morning should consider keeping things at a minimum.

    3.The Historic Area will be open throughout the night until  8:00 AM Saturday Morning for setting up camp.

   4. Those who arrive after 8:00 AM on Saturday are to set up camp in "A In Period Fashion", so not to distract from the atmosphere of the historic area.

     FIREWOOD AND STRAW

   Straw is located in the barn. Please use straw ONLY FOR BEDDING!!  Straw bales are not to be used as camp stools and will be confiscated if found being used as such.

  PARKING

  After your camp is set up you will be directed to park  in an area reserved for those participating in the Workshop.

   MODERN FACILITIES

   Jackson's Mill provides a unique Period setting along with  convenient Modern Facilities. The Historic Area is located within a spacious 5 acre "split railed" fenced in are. There  are numerous period buildings that dot the rolling landscape.  On the edge of the Historic Area is the Mountain State Building, a log structure that contains modern rest rooms and  shower facilities. Water may be obtained from a "hand pump" well (Just lift the handle up, no need to actually pump the handle) located in the Historic Area not far from the Blacksmith shop. 

NOTE Anyone needing information on any of the facilities available at Jackson's Mill during the event such as phone    service, offices, cafeteria, or other items such as corn meal,or ice, etc.may ask at registration.

 EMERGENCIES All emergency situations should be reported directly to Wendy King who will deal with any emergency that arises and is extremely familiar with the facilities and staff at Jackson's Mill.
