Belle is our 3 year old Dogue de Bordeaux. Belle appears above with Sierra and in the family photo on the front page. I hope to be soon getting a more recent picture online of both of them.
Our family loves dogs!!! We brought Belle home at 5 months of age in June of '94. Sierra was 3 months old and it seemed like they were instant best friends. People always gave us strange looks when Sierra would refer to Belle as her sister, but you can believe me that when Sierra called Belle her sister, she meant it. Belle may look intimidating...but not to us or Sierra. In reality she's a very loving, gentle and patient dog. Part of the reason I'm doing this section of my homepage is my love for dogs...the other part is that I wish that everyone would research breeds they think they're interested in and know what they're getting into besides just a dog that they think is cute. Most people don't take into consideration that a certain breed might have a lot of energy and won't be happy being locked up away from its family all day long every day of the week...or that for their dog not to become a hyperactive, barking, out of control destruction machine they should spend time with it every day, socialize it and hopefully even get at least some basic obedience training. And last but not least...while I'm on some pet peaves...just because the ad says "AKC Registered" does not necessarily carry some big seal of approval. All it takes for that is for both parents of the pups to be registered with the AKC, which just about any irresponsible backyard breeders dogs seem to usually be. It does not mean that the breeder has taken anything into consideration in the breeding of the two dogs except how much profit they can make off the litter. Judge for yourself how resposible the breeder is, do your research on the breed(s) and breeders you're interested in. Make sure you're really getting what you want because the dog you get will most likely be a part of your family for 8 to 17 years or more.
