Damen
Handsome, witty and charming with a melodic Irish accent to die for. What this black sheep lacks in political savvy, he makes up for in talent and ability. Much of his tragic history is not available for general consumption but it is these things that are so endearing to her despite the ever-present shadow that lingers because of his past. He is the Amberite that Yosannah compares all others to as well as the man who once held her heart. Now it is her future that keeps them apart. However, Damen is never to be underestimated as he is commitment personified both in his "business" endeavors as well as his relationships..
|
Stone
He is home base. A touchstone. More
then just a source of unadulterated candor, he is the closest thing she's got to family. A former
lover turned brotherly annoyance that just happens to have
his hands in a little bit of everything across all of
shadow. He may shroud himself in rumor and mystery but
Yosannah knows what he's all about. Or, better still, what
he isn't about. He is Damen's partner in "business" affairs
and if Stone can get something she needs, he's apt to do so
just to prevent days worth of sulking and unabashed
harassment.
|
Merlin
He has been described in many
circles as aloof and reticent, stating more with a sly gaze
or pursing of his lips then with words; he is a
commanding presence. Though young by Amberite and Choasian
standards, this former monarch wields his abilities with the
subtlety and finesse of a man who has little need to
impress. Merlin is self-restraint and, as such, exudes
confidence even in the midst of bad choices. Yosannah is
cognizant that their relationship is a valuable commodity;
yet, at the same time, she is extremely fond of him, sharing
confidences and speaking of secret clandestine things when
time allows.
|
Delerium
Dr. Delerium Greenmoon of the
Asylum in Banished Sun is known to Yosannah more for her
bubbly charm and her multi-colored hair then for her
credentials. Though, she once aided in Damen's mental
recovery and, as such, is a trusted friend and a worthy
ally. Offering advice to each other and snacking on french
fries are two of their favorite past-times. Unfortunately,
Delerium has been missing as of late; her asylum closed and
its hallways empty. Her friendship is sorely missed.
|
Alayne
On the surface, she's the girl who
has everything: beauty, a powerful Amberite for a father,
the mystical Palace of Mirrors... and for a while she
had Ben Stone. Oh well, maybe you can't have everything. A
well-intentioned busybody, whose incessant need to have her
hands in the family affairs, makes for some interesting
drama. She tends to dote on those closest to her like
ready-made projects that need to be worked on. Not one to
miss out on a good story, Yosannah is apt to endure Alayne's
prying if for no other reason then to hear the latest
gossip.
|
Ryker
Stuffy. Crotchety. Lacking in anything even remotely resembling a personality. And those are his good points. Conversations with him tend to be monosyllabic. Replies to questions or comments are answered with grunts or groans. Connected as a result of their mutual relationships with Damen and Stone, these two have very little in common with one another. Nevertheless, Ryker was, at the very least, trust worthy enough in Yosannah’s eyes that he and she would share information so long as it suited both of their ends. Ultimately, and with time, the old, weathered mercenary and young, shadow sorceress found some mutual ground that has transcended their differing perspectives.
|
Martin
It's hard to take a man seriously when his favorite vacation spot is the Island of the Big Breasted Tahiti Women. He may a lack certain amount of maturity but he is a man of his word. When Martin makes a promise, he tends to keep it. Unfortunately, he can also be extremely fickle; his attention frequently wandering from one desire to the next without much warning and with little rational.
|
Despil
A gentleman before all else; Despil
does not seek out trouble for trouble's sake. Unlike many of
his family members, he seems to lack any degree of
personal ambition and, as such, it is difficult to actively
dislike him. Yosannah has occasionally saught his advice
and, if he thinks he might be able to help, he does what he
can to offer assistance. Thankfully, it is this apparent
sense of obligation that will not let him stand idly by and
watch as things go awry. He, therefore, takes a very genuine
and active approach to dealing with friends and family.
|
Nash
Clearly, he is damaged goods.
Brooding and self absorbed but only in the sense that he
is persistently and perpetually paranoid. Nash Cragvale is neither liked nor disliked by Yosannah as she has little personal investment in their relationship. She does, however, pity him to some extent - though even this emotional gesture is extremely limited. After all, he is fundamentally at fault for the predicaments he finds himself in. And it's difficult to pity a person that does little to address the issues that lead to their conundrums. Nevertheless, she continues to work at this relationship, though what her reasons are is anyone’s guess.

Ada-Shazandra
She was a phantom beauty, tall yet frail of bone, stunning with a face too exquisite to evince emotion. Her voice, smooth and velveteen laced with the tremor of an ancient, exotic accent. This woman could have claimed that all of shadow was crumbling and Yosannah just might have sworn by it. A former Prelate of the Church of the Serpent in the Courts of Chaos, she became a spiritual adviser and matriarchal presence in Yosannah’s life. Ada-Shazandra paid the ultimate price for the sake of her loved ones when she joined those who fought in the ‘Revelation of Chaos’. In the early days of autumn 2003, the endeavor cost her life.
|
Brandon
A young Chaosian who used to lack the world-weary, cynical perspective that ostensibly follows in the wake of experience, wisdom and insight. In only two years since their first meeting, however, there has been remarkable change in this man. At the same time, this change is also a sad reminder to Yosannah that even the most pure in spirit will be jaded by the realization that the world of Shadow, while full of intrigue and excitement, is a dangerous place riddled with pain, ache and grief. Brandon saw this clearly illustrated during the 'Revelation of Chaos' and the subsequent campaign against the Four Riders of the Serpent.
|
Jurt
The enigmatic Jurt presents as a handsome young man with deep green eyes and a tightly focused expression. To the casual observer he exudes raw confidence and an impulsive, carefree nature. Yosannah thrives on the spontaneity found in the hours they pass together. To the scrutinous eye there is no mistaking what lies beneath - a bottomless void of self-doubt and insecurity. The key to keeping Jurt on your side, therefore, is to step gently about, around and over his low self-esteem. She understands him, and will hold his fragile and starving ego gently in her palm. Feeding it just enough to ensure that their relationship continues to thrive. There’s no harm in playing the game when it comes to a guy like this. After all, in a world of infinite shadow, they might end up anywhere..
|
Mariko
These two became
associated many years past in the streets of Dover. Though a
little rough around the edges, Mariko was an uncompromising
woman who was able to hold her own in, seemingly, every
circumstance. She met her fate in 1998 when severely beaten
to the point of death by an adversary and subsequently
murdered by a second foe immediately thereafter. Much time
passed before Yosannah learned the truth behind that which
lead to Mariko's death and, as a result of that information,
her perception of the woman has altered over the
years.
|
Kitsune
She is hardened a soul. A neglected
Afro-Eurasian child grown to jaded womanhood - her mother's
daughter despite never truly knowing her mother. A
sympathetic creature that did not have the opportunity to
discover herself before being taken by the Rider, Death and
coaxed down a path of righteousness that lead to her demise.
What happened to this woman during the Inferno of Hell's
Kitchen is currently unknown though a multitude of rumors
abound.
|
Ithius
Though "nice guy" tends to have a certain negative connotation, he truly is a nice guy in the purest sense of the phrase. Introduced to Yosannah by Alayne in the shadow of Fairmir, the two endured the Inferno of Hell's Kitchen together and share a common interest in Mariko's daughter - an interest which continues to this day. They are often seen together in the World's End Bar sharing stories and gossip over drinks and sweet potato fries.
|
Smith
He is a fish dealer who has no time for television and kills folks for a living. That requires some clarification, doesn't it? Well, you won't find an explanation here because Yosannah isn't entirely sure what this man is all about. When he's not gallivanting across shadow addressing ongoing conflicts like the one between he and Riva, he spends his extra time in his "Fish Shop" in Dover. He does put together a nice aquarium and a sample of his work can be seen in the Gideon Club in Elbridge.
|
Selene
This woman worked diligently to portray a hardened and tough exterior - as if this might have won her respect and deference among associates. Whether she was successful in this endeavor is debatable and depends fundamentally on whom you speak to. Linked not of their own choosing but because Selene's companion, Rubi, hosted the Rider, Famine. The woman's angst over the state of her companion, unfortunately, manifested itself as an outward resentment of Yosannah and the other Horsemen and quite frequently put them at odds. In June of 2003, Selene was killed, her body laid to rest in the shadow of The Banished Sun.
|
Riva
A pain in the ass who professes to have countless enemies and a shortage of time with which to spend "dealing" with them. Even if you believe half the things she says, one might wonder, then, how it is possible that she still manages to live. Both Stone and Damen have employed Riva, a self-proclaimed mercenary, at one point or another and, as such, the women had been forced to tolerate each other for years. More sympathetic to one another's plights as of late, they are often seen conversing in hushed tones and in quiet places.
|
Dai
Displaying a certain keenness and enthusiasm, Dai is easily defined as his father's son. He is often found in the company of Riva... which might explain the frequency for which he finds himself in altercations that he ought not be involved. And though his relationship with Riva might, at first blush, seem an odd pairing, Dai's level of over-confidence appears to make him well suited for the mercenary life style. Despite these minor shortcomings, if they can be called such, Yosannah has been known to offer up certain personal information, insights and wisdom. Whether this is due to a genuine concern for the man or the respect she has for his father is unclear at this point, even to her.
|
Lisle
Supposedly, this Amberite princess is the daughter of someone important. What's that asshole's name? No matter, Yosannah like her anyway. Of course this junior leaguer appears to be liked by almost everybody. Even Nash, who has a general dislike for most "flatlanders," warms to Lisle. These two women are often seen in one another's company and, occasionally, they will be speaking in hushed tones and in quiet places. She is appreciative of Lisle's friendship and they are obviously at ease in one another's presence. Perhaps this is due to their methodical natures and backgrounds. However, there is trust here and an understanding that transcends logic.
|
Scott
Raised in shadow Earth, he is of Chaosian ancestry and apparently has to sneak about to visit Amberite friends. At one point she might have thought him a friendly acquaintance but no longer. Scott's tendency to play to the crowd is unnerving and disconcerting to Yosannah and she is unable to ascertain where his loyalties lie. Regardless of his motivation, Scott has laid the ground rules for this relationship and she is fully prepared to finish out the game to whatever end.
