All these catches were landed at "Obayashi", near Changi Naval Base.

Sometime in 2002, we made it a record 7 instances of screaming reels in 7 visits to this spot. The cast: Quinton, Ah Lai, Edmund and yours truly. Sadly, 3 really big ones were not landed, one of them was a stingray in excess of 20kg, another was a cobia in the range of 16-25kg and the last was an unknown pelagic. murphy's law at work there and then.

• 8.8kg Common Brown Stingray (Dasyatidae fam).

• Ah Lai's 9.5kg Common Brown Stingray (Dasyatidae fam). This fish was not a match for his trusty Bedok Jetty outfit, a Kunnan 11ft Boatmaster surf rod and Shimano TLD15 reel.

• Table fare Diamond Trevally (Alectis indicus), and Sicklefish (Drepaneidae fam).

• 17.2kg Stingray (Dasyatidae fam). Species unknown, can someone shed some light on this species? I believe this is not a Common Brown Stingray.

• Edmund landed this 12kg Common Brown Stingray (Dasyatidae fam), after another unknown pelagic had busted him on a 12lb line surf outfit earlier in the day.
