JANUARY 2007 UPDATE

Happy New Year to one and all...welcome to 2007 and the latest in 'Yob updates.

First off; here's a couple of bits of feedback from gigs we did towards the end of last year...

We had a bleedin' marvellous time in Germany at Menfis pub in Neustadt. Our grateful thanks to Sindy and Bigge for their hospitality. It was a great night with a quality mix of bands on the bill. We've never had a bad night playing in Germany and this was no exception. Quick photo for you from after the show with our host taking centre stage.

---------------------------------------------------

We also had a crackin' time at our gig in Valencia in Spain shortly before Christmas. A massive thank you to Pablo and his crew for their excellent hospitality - for driving us about, putting us up and introducing us to the Spanish way of life.....booze til very late, stay in bed til late and then get up and eat and drink all afternoon til it's time to go on the slosh again...marvellous.

Here's the flyer for the gig....

As the flyer says, Frankie did a one man show as well on the old joanna....it's a rare old sight to see a room full of skins doing the conga round the place I tell you. The other band on the bill was Pablo's band The Glory Boys, who put on a great show seeing as it was only their 5th gig together. It was good to see some of our friends over from Blighty too - Ian, Alison and Lee made the trip and 2 out of the three of them managed to keep their trousers on.

Here are some photos courtesy of Alison.

A few of the Yobsters both on stage and enjoying a well earned shandy after the show.

Ian enthralled with some of the locals' chit chat.
Would you let this man put out an Oi! Comp CD?

---------------------------------------------------

The other gig we managed to sneak in just before Christmas was down the Bear and Ragged Staff in Crayford. Another good night with a top turn out....thanks for all of those who came down in support. Couple of pics; again courtesy of Alison.

Dunno who were dodgier looking....the band or the crowd!!!!!

---------------------------------------------------

As first mentioned in the last update we've got our latest recording sorted out....the song 'Sweet FA' - our modern day rant against money destroying the once beautiful game of football - has been mixed and mastered and is currently winging it's way out to discerning ears in the media in promo format. We've set up a MySpace account so that you can hear what we've done - the first new Superyob recorded material in 4 years.

Go to http://www.myspace.com/superyobsweetfa for your listen.

Feedback has been good, but please feel free to drop us a line here at Yob Towers to let us know what you think. If anyone is involved in the sporting media and thinks there may be an avenue for widening the listening circle of the song - again, please drop us a line.

---------------------------------------------------

Other news on the recording front, the new British Oi! Comp being put out by the trouserless gentleman pictured above is close to completion- he tells us he's not far off now and is only waiting on tracks to wing their way in from 2 more bands. More news as I get it...sounds a very exciting prospect for the scene in the UK. Some of the bands involved will probably surprise you.....look out for our track 'Rough Justice'.

------------------------------------------------

We've marked our own cards for a band meeting to discuss programming in the long overdue recording sessions for the new Yob album. The Bank of Frank has announced there is enough funds in the kitty to commence proceedings...all we need to do is sit down and thrash out when we can get the demos practiced up to scratch and plan the logistics of it. Not as easy as you'd think with Frank's work commitments, Stodge's satanic child and the availability of the studio and engineer to negotiate around. We'll keep you posted.

------------------------------------------------

We have a pairof gigs in the offing. First one is supporting the mighty COCKNEY REJECTS at The Concord 2 in Brighton on Saturday February 10th. Other band on the bill is the EAST END BAD'OES. Gig finishes at 10pm, so if anyone is planning to travel down from London there's ample time to get trains back. Ace is unavailable for this gig so we will be unveiling our new temporary drummer for the show - none other than Street Punk legend Mickey Drummer of The Business fame. Mick is a neighbour of Haystacks and has been doing sod all on the drummer front since withdrawing from Business duties 3 years ago. Always looking for a new project after he'd had a few beers in the pub, he finally got the call up. We've got a busy bout of practices lined up.

Mickey will also be playing at a show we have lined up in Milan in Italy for Saturday 17th February. There's a local mob there who've formed Pull The Trigger Records keen to put on bands from all around Europe - they've obviously started with their sights a bit low as they're entertaining On File this weekend Jan 6th, but things are sure to look up. Support is from Italian band Prima Linea - check 'em out here.

------------------------------------------------

Not a lot else happenning on the gig front at the moment as we have to prioritise new recordings. We're waiting to hear from Sheffield Dave about a jaunt up to Yorkshire for later in the year and as soon as we know when we might combine it with a few other shows.....perhaps taking another trip up to Scotland. Once we've got the logistics of the recording and stuff sorted we'll build some gigs in around it.....honest!!!

------------------------------------------------

As you are all no doubt aware, we still have our most recent single doin' the rounds. Jump to the MERCHANDISE page for details of where you can still get it along with other Yob odds and sods. Please note that all 3 CDs are now sold out. We do not have any more and there will be no re-pressings. If you've got one, I spose you'd better hang onto it cos it'll be worth a fortune one day. If you're after a copy of Ghetto Blaster, please drop us a line as we are aare of a few floating about the world somewhere....you never know your luck.

We now have the new T-Shirt design in all sizes too.

THE CONCRETE GODS
By way of a quick mention, Haystacks and Ace have a new band on the go called The Concrete Gods. Also featuring Stodge on bass, they now have their debut album 'Anglo-Centric Generation' available and will be soon gigging at a town near you. Check out the latest news HERE.
