...Short biography:          

 

Birth ¨C age 7

I was born in the third biggest city in China, Guang Zhou, on September 28th, 1989. According to my mother, I was born healthily at 10:00 am. My parents were working at a famous Chinese university at that time, thus I lived in that university for the first seven years. I went to the kindergarden and the Elementry School in that university. Most of my friends there I met them when I am age 2.

 

Age 8 ¨C 12

I moved to live with my grandparents from grade 2 to grade 6. I take the bus alone everyday to go to school and go home on weekdays. On Saturdays I go to some advanced math class and then I take two hours of bus to my parents' house outside of the city. I stay there for one night and on Sundays I take another two hours of bus into the city to take the lesson that teaches us computer. I have learnt Frontpage, flash and C++ in grade five alone. I got a lot of awards regarding computer in grade five and six in China. One of my masterpieces was the second award in National Computer Competition Title Page Design in July 2001 when I was eleven. Teachers in my old school were very proud of me because of my computer works.

 

Age 12 ¨C 16

My family decided to immigrate to Vancouver, Canada. Immediately after we landed here I took the summer school in Burnaby North. Thus I stayed at BNSS for grade eight. In grade eight because my English was really bad thus I have a lot of ESL classes to improve my English skills. Gradually my English improved and I moved out of ESL and finally I got to regular English in grade 10. In grade nine, I joined the table tennis team in the school and I started to take table tennis lessons and I got addicted to this sport. Now I am grade 11 in the school and I work hard at school.

•  What magical power do you want to have and why?

I want to have the power to read other's mind, because this is very helpful in a lot of ways such as socializing with friends and in knowing what they are thinking it's really good!

•  If tomorrow was the end of the world, what do you want to do today and why?

I would want to enjoy my last day of life with my family and friends, because I treasure the love between people.

•  What do you want to do if god specially gives you five hours of extra time and why did u choose to do that?

I will want to sleep through the five hours of extra time, because sleeping is really what I need and what makes me sufficient at work.

•  If god needs to punish you and make you into an animal for one week, what will you choose to be and why?

I would want to be a bird for one week because I would like to get the feeling of flying freely in the sky.

• What are the nicknames your friends call you and which one do you like best?

I have a lot of nicknames, both by friends from China and in Canada. Some of the Chinese nicknames include: little bunny, little green leaf (this is because my last name is YE and it means leaf) and one of the characters in my Chinese name. My mother made up my English name ¨C Awin, and I like it except many people mispronounce it. The best nickname should be the last character of my Chinese name. This is because my parents and grandparents keep calling me that name for sixteen years.
