Year of Horsepower is a concept that I, Shell, created to celebrate the 21st year of birth of my boyfriend, Brett.

We love attending these events together, and what better way to show my love for him than to create a whole year of lovin'!

This will also *hopefully* be the final year that we will be spectators at events such as these, with our VH Commodore currently well into the rebuild process.  Follow this further at MAD_308.

Choice of Events

I decided to kick the year of with the second ever POWERCRUISE.  We attended the Inaugural Powercruise together in 2003, and loved the event so much I thought, what better way to start the year off.  That and the fact that it is also the weekend after Brett turns 21 is also a bonus.

Next, is Monaro Club Qld's Cruzetime.  This is an event that we have attended for the past 2 years running, and is definitely a fave on our calendar.

Following Cruzetime comes our first trip to Willowbank's prestige Drag Racing event, the 37th WINTERNATIONALS.  This will be our first journey to the Winternationals, as funding has prevented previous attendance.  We have attended many other major Willowbank meets including the Australian Nationals, and eagerly await our first Winternationals experience.

The weekend after Winternationals is the HOLDEN vs FORD NATIONALS.  This will also be our third trip to this show.  Whilst having seen awesome displays of horsepower on the Dyno's in previous years (700hp), we can't wait to see the promise of big names and 1000+hp awaiting us.  GO HOLDEN!

After an action packed June, we take a two month break before KALBAR AUTOFEST 9.  This will be our second trip to Kalbar after our introduction last year.  We loved this event so much, it is a definite attendance.

Finally we end the year with SUMMERNATS 18.  This will be our inaugural journey to Canberra, and we CAN'T WAIT!  Every year you hear the reports and every year you wish you had gone.  This is finally our chance!

Of course, these won't be the only car-related events that we will attend during the year.  We love attending all sorts of car events, and will continue to attend as many as time and funding allows.  We are regulars at Willowbank's Street Meets and Test 'n' Tune's and will continue to attend all events possible.  Check out our calendar for details of *hopefully* every event in the greater Brisbane, Gold Coast and Ipswich areas.
