Ye Yinhao - Dizi Performer

Born in 1983, Ye Yinhao is currently hailed as an outstanding young musician in the local Chinese music scene.  His very first interaction with the dizi was at the tender age of six years old.  He is verstatile with the Dizi, Xiao, Bawu and Xun.

At thirteen years old, he entered the Dunman High School and furthered his musical learning under the tutelage of Mr Wang Jianxin, Associate Professor of the Tianjin Conservatory of Music and Mr Ding Huaicheng, renowned lecturer majoring in woodwind performance in the Central Conservatory of Music, China, Mr Li Chongwang, Class One composer in China, and Mr Tay Soon Li, Concert Master and soloist of the City Chinese Orchestra under the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. Currently, he is studying the art of dizi under Mr Ng Teck Seng.

Taking the position of the dizi principle player of the Dunman High School Chinese Orchestra in 1999, Yinhao led the orchestra to the champion position in a highly acclaimed soli in the 1999 Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) competition finals.  After graduating in 1999, he entered Temasek Junior College, where he rose once more to the role of the principle player and soloist in the 2001 Temasek Junior College Chinese Orchestra public concert.  In the same year, he led the orchestra to the champion position once more in the 2001 SYF competition finals as the principle player and soli performer.

Besides being a valuable asset to the orchestras that he had previously belonged to, Yinhao has also shown good results as a soloist performer.  In the years 2000 & 2002, he entered the intermediate and senior categories respectively in the biennal National Chinese Music Competitions organised by the National Arts Council, and emerged as first runner-up in both years.

Upon enlistment for national service in 2002, Yinhao joined the Singapore Armed Forces Music and Drama Company, where he served as a dizi player, and is frequently appointed as soloist for various performances and concerts.

In March 2004, Yinhao performed the ¡°Gada Meilin Capriccio¡±,  dizi concerto, with the NAFA CCO in the Yong Talents in Concert 2004 and was commended for a credible performance.

Yinhao is a dizi instructor in various schools and community centres.  He teaches with inspiring passion and is not restricted to any certain style of teaching, ensuring maximum efficiency in his teaching. His students though young, have shown great promise.
