Hainan is the solely tropical island province of China,administrating Hainan main island,the islets and reefs of Xisha,Nansha,Zhongsha and their surrounding waters.Hainan Province lies in the central part of Asian Pacific Economic Circle, facing Leizhou Peninsula of Guangdong over the Qiongzhou Strait. The west of the island borders the Gulf of Tongkin,with Vietnam visible in the distance. The east of the island is near to Hong Kong and Taiwan, and the Philippines is in southeast. The South Sea in south of the island adjoins to Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei and Singapore. Haikou City, the capital of Hainan Province, is away from Hong Kong for 50 minutes by air and 2-3 hours from above foreign countries and regions.

 
 

    Hainan has a total population of 6,150,800. The Han nationality-totaling 84.1 percent of the population-and the rest are the Li, Miao, Hui and other minority nationalities. The Lic nationality has a population of 980,400 people, and Miao, 45,600.
    Most of the Li, Miao, and Hui minority people inhabit middle and south Hainan. There are five Li autonomous counties, two Li and Miao cutonomous counties, four Li autonomous towns, two Miao autonomus towns and one Li and Miao autonomous town in Hainan.
    Hainan Island is also one of the well-known origins of overseas Chinese. Nearly two million overseas Chinese. they are widely distributed in 53 countries and regions in the world, particularly in Thailand, Indonesia and Viet Nam.

 
 

    Hainan Island is under the influence of tropical monsoon climate. Its annual average temperature and annual average rainfall are respectively 23.8 C, and 1500-2000 mm, and its sunny days are more than 300 a year, very tropical. Actually this Island locates along almost the same latitude with Hawaii and Jamaica, the same beautiful and exotic as well
