Mirmillo in Newcastle

The Gladiateur 33, built by Wauquiez of France, has enjoyed a reputation for being a very sturdy and capable ocean cruiser. Careful hand-lamination and reinforcing stringers provide an uncommonly stiff and strong hull. Over-built chainplate attachments and stout standing rigging provide a rig that will withstand the worst. Bolted-on lead ballast and a full-length skeg for the rudder provide the stability and performance desirable in a cruising sailboat. "Mirmillo" has continuously been maintained and upgraded by her owners. She is currently lying at Felixstowe Ferry and has recently sailed her owners to Scotland, Holland, Belgium and the South Coast of England.

Mirmillo is now available for sale. This fast cruiser designed by Holman and Pye will seduce you with her beautiful lines and impressive performance. Mirmillo finished 6th in her class in the 2002 Round the Isle of Wight race.

Accommodation

Mirmillo is a traditional layout with V berth forward, with filler cushion. There is an overhead opening hatch and shelving on both port and starboard bulkheads.

Moving aft, the head is to port. The head compartment is isolated by a sliding door closing off the forepeak. Opposite to starboard is a large hanging locker and shelves.

Just aft to port is the large convertible U-shaped dinette that will sleep two in comfort and will provide seating for 7 people. Opposite to starboard is a settee, which is fitted with lee cloth to make a safe and comfortable sea berth. There is also a small pilot berth above. Throughout the saloon and galley there is an abundance of lockers, bins and storage shelves. The use of Burma teak, a Wauquiez trademark, adds to the warmth and rich atmosphere and traditional overall feeling below deck.

There are four large windows (replaced 2005) and a hatch, providing excellent lighting below.

Moving aft to starboard is a nicely laid out galley, with a S/S sink and pressure water. The stove is a two-burner unit with grill and gimbaled oven.

Opposite to port is a very large chart table that will accommodate full size charts. Aft of the chart table is a quarter berth. All upholstery was renewed in 2003.
