Many years ago, I'm not real sure how many, a young boy of 14 years old, approached Ellis Island in New York harbor, and stood in awe that he had made it! He had worked hard, cleaning and mopping decks on a tramp steamer, working his way to the land of freedom away from the terror and oppression of pre World War 1, in Germany. Tears were in his eyes as he remembered the family he had left behind. At their encouragment he had come to this country and left behind all he knew. He spoke very little English and had very little money in his pocket, but he was filled with awe and amazment at the beautiful sight he saw. His name is among the many at Ellis Island and I am proud to say this very courageous young boy was my grandfather!
This freedom is our heritage, we will not let it be taken away from us! There is a united spirit of love and caring that spans the globe, we have friends everywhere reaching out their hands in friendship and support. These graphics are a few of the gifts that I have received from some of my friends from all over the world.
So let us all light a candle....
....and join our hearts and hands in prayer for the families of all who have perished, for the families of the ones still missing, for our leaders, that they make the right decisions in guiding this country. And yes, even for the poor souls who died for a cause that to us is so unbelievable!
And take this dove of peace to your web home, pass it around, let it fly around the world in search of love and peace for all our fellow man!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Thanks, zmen, for a heartfelt gift!
