It is about 10 miles north of Bandung is the crater of Tangkuban Perahu Volcano. This area at an elevation of 1,400 meters is even cooler than Bandung. You pass through beautiful tea plantations on the drive up to Tangkuban Perahu. Easily accessible, visitors arrive at the volcano rim after entering the Tangkuban Perahu Nature Reserve.

There is a series of craters to walk around and into. You feel and smell the sulfurous steam and small hiking trails are available. Some people believe that Tangkuban Perahu cause of a Son ( Sangkuriang ) who loved his mother but his mother knew that he was her's son. So Sangkuriang was dissapointed and kicked the ship untill updown and hit that Mount.
