Mounting The Cab
Since I am mounting an '85 extracab onto an '82 shortbed frame, I had to modify the cab mounts to fit the cab.
I cut off the original mounts from the frame and kept grinding them down until they fit in place. When I welded them on, I raised them up to incorperate a 1" body lift.
For the mounts at teh firewall, I only have to enlarge the holes a little to get the mounts to work. So I put in 1" body lift pucks for body lift. I cut these pucks down from a 3" body puck.
Since the cab goes further back than normal, I had to gently beat the hell out of the floorboard in order for the cab to sit down at the correct level. It doesnt really take much hammering. I may remove this croddmember in the future and build one further back.
Since I am using a shortbed/standard cab frame, the bed will be shorter to keep the same over all length. I may actually lengthen the Wheel Base by a few inches front and rear.
