AMOUNT
REQUESTED AND TIME FRAME IN WHICH FUNDS WILL BE USED
The amount requested is $2,500 for start up and seed funding.
The time frame for the funds will be for a 12 month period.
THE
PROGRAM IN WHICH PROJECT IS SEEKING SUPPORT
The proposed project has been in the development stage for
the past two years. The erection of a concrete outhouse is
incomplete because there is no water system.
The project involves five components:
1).
Construction of a new pump and well and an adequate irrigation
system.
2). Finishing of concrete out-house and installation of
an Ecological Sanitation Loop which includes:
a.
Separation of fecal and urine with ash to natural fertilization
b. Conversion/Recycling Toilet System
c. Focus is on ecological sanitation for improved community
health.
3).
Farmer Education involving:
a.
Coordination with DMMMSU representatives as follows:
-
A 3 to 4 day workshop at campus location in Bacnotan,
La Union
- Assessment of rural/barrio/agricultural needs of allangayan
Oeste Barangay and local barrios by DMMMSU Staff i.e.
Water system, crop production which is compatible with
area soil composition, socio-economic analysis.
b.
Replacing tobacco production with more sustainable vegetable/fruit
crops.
4).
Women’s grass roots economic development in Luffa
production.
5).
Family/Marriage/Medical/Home Education and Enrichment Program
The Dallangayan
Oeste community is located in a rural area approximately 6
kilometers
from the San Fernando City limits. Residents are impoverished
because sustainable income is unavailable and hectares reserved
for farming plots are very limited. Therefore,
developing a comprehensive grass roots economic development
project which is parish
oriented will address the above problems and be a pilot project
for sustainability in areas
without adequate economic resources. With this partnership
efforts, coordinating development opportunities with universities,
local governments, private agencies, and the public sector;
improvement in people’s lives will, in turn, initiate
a parallel enhancement in community programming endeavors.
MONITORING
PROGRESS AND EVALUATING PROJECT SUCCESS
Program progress and evaluation will be monitored and evaluated
for successful completion by coordination with DMMMSU and
oversight by the Capitol Church and Board members of the Dallangayan
Congregation who will benefit from the project.
HOW PROJECT WILL BE FUNDED AFTER GRANT PERIOD
Continuing support will come from the following sources:
1).
Revenues generated by the Luffa and sustainable farm development
projects.
2). Local donations
3). Capitol Church donations
4). WHO and UNICEF funds for the Conversion/Recycling Toilet
System.
DALLANGAYAN
WORSHIPPING CONGREGATION

area” designation in 1984 into a worshipping congregation
with Sunday afternoon services in homes and regular offerings
