October 21, 2001:
Fished Coyote this weekend. Arrive at 6:45AM and left around 1PM.
Launched at the ramp and headed towards the South end.
Hooked a dink near the weed patches, but jumped and got off.
Then I hooked a BIG fish, fought it through the weeds, it jumped out of
the water and dived straight down into the weeds again, and then
I noticed I was fighting a losing battle. It took the drag and
ran all around the thick weed bed and that was it! I only had an eight pound
line on. Damn, that could have been my big fish of the year! The year is
not over yet, I will be back! Between 9-10AM, my buddy and I hooked other
dinks on crankbaits(Speed Trap and Norman). It was foggy, cold, and windy
there this morning. The air temperature was around mid-50s and the water
temperature was 64F. The weeds are definitely dying down. Fish on!
September 16, 2001:
My friends and I fished at Coyote this morning. Arrived at one of the picnic parking lots and launched around 6:45 AM near the dam. I went float tubing while the other two went on a two person pontoon. I worked along the weed beds going towards the boat ramp. Caught a 0.75# right from the start, but after that I didn't even get anymore hits. Very little fish jump that morning.
July 2001:
Lunkers everywhere, but hard to catch.
