1.  Cleaning the Side Window Switch Contacts

Cleaning the Side Window Switch Contacts Pictures (below) 33) Remove the window control switch (the driver side is shown here). Slowly unplug the connector and place the removed switch on a table with good lighting. 34) Dissemble the switch by removing the two center screws from the underside of the switch. Go slow here cause there are some small contacts and springs to worry about. 35) This pictures shows what the contacts and switch connects look like. You’re looking at the reason that the window won’t work. All the black contacts and contact bases have blackened to the point of not making good contact. Years of use and corrosion. 36) Remove these free-floating contacts and clean both sides real good. Use light sand paper to clean all the contacts (lightly and softly). Remember exactly how the contact rockers came out. 37) This his how the contacts should look when all cleaned up. It is somewhat used looking even at best but it will work. 38) Place the contact rockers back into the switch assembly. Make sure that its situated level and ready for the cover to screwed back on. Putting the black cover back on can be a little tricky so take your time and don’t let the contact rockers fall out. After everything is back together connect up the wires and check it out before reinstalling it in the door. Very seldom does the passenger side window switch need to be cleaned. Now since you know how to do it, you might just have to do it again in 15 months.
