"We'll kick your ass and smoke your grass!"

In a truly typical style, the first sixteen seconds of this album are a weird collaboration of odd sound effects, manic laughter and someone telling you like ice cream - in fact, ‘your existence is meaningless without ice cream’. No doubt this is definitely the latest SLOT CD then.

This sixteen track album has been highly anticipated since ‘Dude the Cherryade Man’ and I know for a fact that SLOT are every proud of it (Andy told me…). And, to be perfectly frank, they have every reason to be. Not only does it have the legendary ‘Cool in A Band’ song on it, but also ‘Punk Rock Pirates’ – which SLOT are desperately trying to persuade everyone is much better than ‘Cool…’, but I don’t think anyone’s listening. It’s a fucking awesome song, and sounds great on the CD, but in my opinion nothing will ever be better than ‘Cool…’. The skanking value is unbeatable!

Other highlights include ‘Martin’. I don’t know who Martin is, but I sure want to. Quality moment at the beginning of this track, with Andy saying impatiently at his younger brother: “Shut up Ross! Fucking hell.” Fast paced anguished song, which is successfully squeezed into a record timing 34 seconds.

My very favourite song on this album has to be 'Ignorance Is Bliss'. Don't know why, there's just something incredibly hoppy about it (don't know what hoppy means but it sounded appropriate). Ross erally stretches his Serious Lack Of Talent in this song and gives us a show of his great vocal skills.

No one knows what’s going on in the nine seconds between ‘Punk Rock Pirates’ and ‘Mercenary Milton’, but I presume SLOT are trying to wish a “Merry Jingly” to one and all. Whatever that is…

‘Mercenary Milton’ is also great (how could it not be? What beats a song about a giant mantis?) Awesome guitar solo here, taking us all back to the old-skool cool of The Vandals or Guttermouth.

‘Fucking Shitfaced’ is a song that I suspect their mothers do not approve of, but everyone else enjoys singing loudly in public places. Heavier punk rock going on here; sadly Ross sounds very much like he has a cold. Still, catchy song and fantastic drumming.

‘My Wasted Life’ sounds almost like something off a very old Blink 182 album, which I suppose was Stew’s input, and has another great guitar bit going on in there.

‘S.H.I.T’ (Stephen Hawking’s Inner Talent) brings the album to a close, which I suppose I can’t really call a real song, since it’s Stephen Hawking (supposedly…) playing an acoustic version of ‘I Love You Baby’ to what seems to be a couple of mice. Interesting ending.

If this is just their second CD, imagine what their third and fourth are gonna be like. I’d like to call them musical geniuses, but I don’t suppose genius is quite the right word for these guys. Still, whatever they are….they’re fucking awesome.
