March 2003 Rankings

Welcome to the inaugural XODI cricket rankings. Following on from the recent World Cup where Canada, Netherlands and Namibia mixed it with the big boys, these rankings are designed to fit all cricket nations on a scale with each other.

Australia take first position in the inaugural rankings reflecting their win in the World Cup. Some might be surprised to see South Africa in second place, given their failure to progress past the first round of the World Cup. However, to make the rankings as fair as possible, teams were given an initial ranking based on past percentages of games won and this gave South Africa a good initial ranking. Kenya's good run of form in the Cup sees it ranked 10th, highest of all the non-test teams and higher than one of the test teams in Bangladesh.

Eighteen other teams are included in the rankings based on performances at the last ICC Trophy in Canada in 2001. More teams will be added as they play matches.
