The most important tournament of this quarter was the ICC Trophy in India. A highly motivated Australian side won the tournament for the first time. Previous Australian teams had dismissed the ICC Trophy as meaningless but the 2006 team wanted to begin its Ashes campaign with a win behind it. And that is what they did, overcoming a revitalised West Indian side who had upset Australia in the group stage of the tournament.
South Africa picked up over 500 points courtesy of a 4-0 series whitewash against an Indian side that had earlier in the year seemed like Australia's buiggest threat at the 2007 World Cup. These defeats saw India slump from third to seventh in the rankings.
Bangladesh also recorded a series whitewash over Zimbabwe which stretched the gap between them and pushed the Zimboks below Kenya. The Netherlands won a triangular tournament in South Africa against Canada and Bermuda but, because they already held a substantial lead over the other two and their victories weren't convincing enough, the Dutch actually lose points in the ratings to the other two.
