The Cross Country Experience
Cross Country sucks! Yes it really sucks!............... Right now you are probably thinking, "What!! Why did he write that?".....Well the truth is, that is what I used to think about cross country when I first started. It was about a year and a half ago now when I was pressured by my parents and friends to join the rugged sport. At that point I was already frustrated before the running even began for being rushed into it. And when that happened, the complaining begun.
It all started one and a half weeks into my training and I had my first race, and we all know what happens when inexperience, drive for competition, and adrenaline builds up in a new runner,.... it equals me going out with the leaders for about a little more than a quarter-mile. After that point a hit a speed bump of a hill, and died going up, as wave after wave of runners passed me. It was if I was in slow-motion and everyone around was in fast-forward. I struggled and struggled and struggled. Then about two miles into the race I stopped to get water from a water fountain along the course (I bet your all laughing now, it wasn't funny, I was dying out there). Awterwards I managed to finish the race while beating a few people. My amazing three mile time was 22:12 (blazing fast). Now this is the point most people quit, but NO! I wasn't a quitter, and I would not let three miles of grass get the better of me. Somehow I endured.
Well, I hope you enjoyed a little part of my experence, be sure to read the rest of my stories on the other pages.
