Having a new baby around reminds me of just how much I love being a mommy! So what if he wakes up every 2~3 hours demanding to be fed! The warmth of his little body, his baby breath against my neck, the gooing and cooing noises he makes at me and the sweet smell of a freshly bathed baby make up for any sleep I may be losing! Life is good~ no...great!
Well, here it is almost the end of April.  This will probably be my last entry here in Japan because we will be packing out on the 21st-23rd of May.  As all of  my military family friends know, this is a HECTIC time.  There are closets to be sorted through, things to be sold and tossed, dirt and grease to be scrubbed, major decisions to be made on a daily basis - all the while trying to juggle daily commitments like taking care of baby, feeding everyone, the never ending laundry, school work to help with ~ geez! I'm glad I'm not working outside the home at this time AND trying to do all of the above!  Been there, done that! Don't wanna do it again!
As our time ends here in Japan we are trying to take it all in one last time.  Every trip off base is cherished - even trips to Japanese grocery stores and department stores.  They are so unlike our American counterparts.  The employees are actually polite and welcoming,  and everything seems so much more clean, colorful and vibrant!  I can't get out of a Japanese grocery store without spending at least 5,000 yen! Oh how I will miss Japanese rice!  In early May we are going to take one last trip to Mt. Fuji with some friends.  This ought to be an interesting outing with the baby! I wish we had time to do more, but as the day draws nearer to moving, we have to stick around home and get things done.  I am really glad that we went on a lot of tours and did a lot of sightseeing when we first arrived here.  I can't believe how fast four years has gone by!!   When we arrived here on May 29, 1998, Michelle was 9 years old and Melissa was 4!! Now they are 13 going on 14 and 8 going on 9!!  Back then when we arrived, I never would have guessed that four years later to the day I'd be taking home a very special souvenir from Japan ~ a 3 month old baby boy - Michael!! You should see his passport - it is TOO CUTE!
So, South Carolina here we come!!  We are making a stop off in California to see my parents and my sister's family.  We wanted to drive cross country to SC but it didn't work out that way.  That's too bad, it would have been nice to see more family and friends along the way.  We should be in South Carolina by June 6th.  We are taking our laptop, so if I do find some time and a place to plug in I'll try and post a couple of updates on this page on where we are and what our status is. Of course, I'll always be able to be reached via email, so just because I'm in transit - don't stop writing!  I am hoping that by July or August we'll have our new home and my computer will be set up and ready to go!  Please note that I have fixed some of my links below and I have added new pics to my photo albums. In addition to the 'New Baby' album I've put on there, I'll also create a little page for Michael as soon as I can!  See you in South Carolina!  Sayonara! L~~
