The Garin Family originated from from Guimbal, Iloilo in the Philippines. Jose Torreblanca Garin served as the Municipal Treasurer in the towns of Guimbal, Barotac Nuevo and finally Igbaras when he retired after more than 30 years in 1960. He met the lovely Teresa Valera in one of his routine tax collection missions early in the 1930s. Their friendship blossomed and developed into a loving relationship and in 1935, Jose and Teresa got married. Their marriage was blessed with 5 children.
