Sustainable Economics Network (SEN)
The SEN was conceived as an informal group of professionals interested in the use of economic tools to achieve nature conservation. It was established on November 26, 1999 among a few WWF colleagues. The network is currently inactive due to several original members' job change . We hope to keep this site, however, and update it from time to time, in order to preserve the original spirit that prompted the creation of this network. This web site is maintained by Sheng Fulai, currently Economic Affairs Officer at the UNEP's Econoimics and Trade Branch based in Geneva. The materials carried on this site - which need to be updated soon - do not necessarily reflect the official views or positions of either WWF or UNEP.

The SEN aimed to improve the effectiveness of conservation work through appropriate application of economic approaches. The objectives are to:

1. Increase the economics capacity by developing and applying economic methods and skills to conservation priorities, including training and capacity building;

2. Enhance the effectiveness of specialized expertise in conservation organizations through professional support, peer review, and skills and information sharing;

3. Promote the vision of sustainable development and the practice of sustainable economics to key audiences.
