Robert Montgomery

During WWII he joined the Navy, raising to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was on PT boats and stationed in the Atlantic.

His movie career was set when Norma Shearer picked him for her leading man in Private Lives (1931). He played many likable characters over the years, covering the gamut from very poor, to very rich. In 1945 he returned to MGM, and making hit movies.

He is also the father of Elizabeth Montgomery (Sabrina in Bewitched)
