Welcome to the official website of Fireplace Centre Football Club, Premier League Champions of the Tyne & Wear Business Houses League 1999-2000. This is now our fifth season, and we are looking to build on last season's historic achievement and pick up some more honours, hopefully dumping Carpets into 2nd place yet again.

We are called Fireplace Centre because we are sponsored by the Fireplace Centre. The beauty of being called the Fireplace Centre is that there are loads of puns that the local paper, the Shields Gazette, can use when they put the match reports in on a Saturday :

"Fireplace prove too hot"

"...their visitors took a grilling..."

"....the third goal sealed a 'grate' victory for Fireplace."

These puns can take on other forms when the opponents ae considered: One came from our cup-tie with a team called the Grey Hen. Although the headline escapes me just now, it basically had something to do with hens being cooked in a fireplace........you get the idea.
