Thanks for keeping us informed about the series. I do not have cable but I have a friend who tapes stuff for me that he thinks I'd like to see. He knows my passion for Wolfe & Archie. Recovering from a motorcycle accident in 1970 while passing through Ter e Haute, Indiana, I reread 40 Stout titles in 2 weeks of enforced rest. It got him to read a few and he has been a fan ever since. The local library had quite a large Stout selection and permitted me to borrow them. ( They never belived that I could read books per day but were tolerant of me anyway.)

This is a return visit. I wanted to share this story: my friend (who introduced me to Rex Stout's writing) was at Martha's Vineyard recently. He went by the dumpster to check out what "the rich" were throwing out that week. And guess what he came upon - a out 20 Rex Stout books. Can you believe it? IN THE TRASH!!! I also wanted to share that I was lucky enough to get tickets for the closing night of the NY Film Festival which is a screening of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." I am sure I'll see the man hi self (Chow Yun-Fat) along with Ang Lee and Michelle Yeoh. Best, Michelle

I enjoyed your comments about watching the finale of A&E's 'Golden Spiders' being made. I've visited your site a number of times over the past couple of years. I traveled often to White Plains on business last year, and read about 10 or 12 Nero Wolfe novels during that time. It was a joy to be able to see many of the places and roads mentioned by Archie in the surroulnding areas! (I unfortunately didn't navigate some portions of Saw Mill River Parkway as expertly as Archie--but then they've apparently added a few more parkways to the area since Rex Stous's days). I wondered how/why Rex Stout mentioned the area so much until I read in the back of one of the novels that Mr. Stout lived in Brewster, NY, just down the road from Mount Kisco, where I stayed some of the time. Thanks for all the Nero Wolfe informarion you've provided me with over the past couple of years. Al

Thanks for your very informative and very welcome site. I was especially happy to get the info re plans for additional A and E movies. I enjoyed TGS and am happy it remained true to the book and the characters. I was a little disappointed in the Stebb ns character, thought it was a little overdone and Stebbins was plainclothes not uniformed. Also agree with one of your readers that Durkin appeared a little too dimwitted. But the overall I was very happy with the movie's accuracy. I have read all of he Wolfe books over the years and am now rereading them. I am looking forward to additional movie productions.

I recently watched the A & E version of "The Golden Spiders" again and thought it was done quite well, especially compared to the other attempts at bringing Wolfe and Archie to film. My only complaints were minor (i.e. the stairs seemed to be in the wrong place, Fritz didn't seem right and Fred Durkin was way too dimwitted). I certainly hope that A & E decides to makes more movies from some of Stout's best works.

Where I am A+E showed TGS from 6pm to 2am. I recorded the movie and watched it a couple of times. I don't know about any of you but I spent alot of time just soaking in the surroundings. I would imagine a lot of us have a visual image in our heads of what Wolfe's house really looks like. Every time they moved from room to room I would be pausing the vcr so I could linger on a detail. The set seemed slightly different in lots of ways, but it was great seeing it. Quick notes 1. I thought the character who played Wolfe could be fatter (alltho gh he did a good job) 2.Hutton is no Archie, but I guess he could grow on me 3.Thanks A+E for bringing the Wolfe Man back! :)

Just finished watching the original and encore performances of "The Golden Spiders" an thought I would see what I could find on the net. Found this page, read your article. Right to the point. I guess it is hard to define Pfui from Phooey, and the Wate fall would be tricky as well, but overall I thorougly enjoyed the movie, and most importantly the cast. I was just as concerned as you on whom would be Wolfe, Archie, and the gang. Thank you Andy
