There are gestures disgraceful and graceful,
but let's forget the disgrace, and concentrate on the grace.

And what of gestures?
We know of a special one that is ignoble at least,
if not downright beastly, popularly known as "the finger".
But, by all means, let's forget that one
and concentrate on the loving, caring gestures
of genuine affection and comradeship.

A hug, a kiss, a handshake,
a kind word, a sqeeze, a touch,
any action that demonstrates,
announces care, friendship, and love,
these are the acts of grace
offered face-to-face
with those we love.
