New Thread

His britches were breached in the rear,
Where excess weight had burst the seam.
Folks gathered around him to jeer,
One shocked woman began to scream.

But worse, he wore no underwear,
Consequently, it all hung out,
Through this wide unexpected tear,
As teenagers started to shout.

He tore off his shirt and then tied
It tightly around his huge waist,
But certain parts he couldn’t hide,
Offending all women straight-laced.

One old lady ran to the phone,
And dialed the police station nearby.
He stood against a wall, alone,
Embarrassed and wanting to cry.

Charged with indecent exposure,
Off to jail the police car sped.
Once there, he at last found closure,
As he was supplied with new thread.
