Well, you've found my web page! Yes, that's me in the photo you to the right, standing in my yard next to the house. The picture is a few years old. Just add some grey to my goatee to see me now. I live in the Green Mountains of northern Vermont, one of the more beautiful places in the world. I've lived in Vermont for since 1982 and am glad to call it my home.

My day job is slaving away for Big Blue (IBM). I spend my days working on computer chip designs. It's a challenging but frustrating job, and I'm counting the days until I can retire, even though that's still measured in years.

I owned my own massage therapy business for 11 years and have just recently closed it. It's a wonderful skill to have and share with others. For those considering a career in massage, it's hard work but definitely worth it if you have the right skills and personality. I also love writing and have tried my hand at poetry, short stories, and an uncompleted novel. I've put that aside and now concentrate my writing efforts on book reviews. For those who are writers, or thinking about being a writer, I have a page for writing reference books.

I'm also the owner and administrator of several web sites. The first is one of my favorite hobbies: reading. Back in 2002 I started ReviewsOfBooks.com, where I collect professional reviews of recently published books from online newspapers, magazines, and book review sites. I also add my own reviews for books I've read (some of those are to the left side of this page). If you enjoy reading, please stop by the web site. Keep in mind that's a partial list of the books on ReviewsOfBooks.com, since I add about 4 to 6 new books to the site every week, and I rarely come back to edit that list here.

I also have a software site and a music site. The software site, PCSoftware4U has all sorts of different personal computer software. It's a mix of software for both personal and small business use and I search amazon.com for deals and rebates on software and compare the features of different versions of related software offerings. The music site is NewMusicTunes.com and there I add web pages for recent music offerings through amazon.com. I try to find reviews for these new releases along with other CDs and DVDs from each artist.

My wife and I love to travel together. We try to take several trips a year, and I've written trip reports for several of these. I've done this mostly so family and friends can read about our trips in once place, but I've gotten a lot of e-mail from other people who've read them and wanted to share stories about their trips to the same places or ask questions about mine.
