They were two talented technical grapplers on the independent scene before
heading into the spotlight of the WWF. Brian Christopher (son of Jerry "The King" Lawler) was tearing
up his father's old stomping grounds, the United States Wrestling Association (USWA) and won every title imaginable
within the promotion on several occasions. Scott Taylor also enjoyed success within a number of independent organizations.
Then in 1997, the WWF announced that it would hold a tournament to crown a new WWF Light Heavyweight Champion.
Both Christopher and Taylor entered the WWF to compete. Christopher immediately was looked at as a top contender,
and the heel "Too Sexy" engaged in a feud with the man around which the LH division was built, Taka Michinoku.
Scott Taylor entered the WWF as a face, and had several matches with Christopher as part of the division. Neither
man was able to win the title or generate a significant amount of success.
In 1998, Christopher and Taylor decided to combine forces, and the heel tag
team of Too Much ("Too Sexy" Brian Christopher and Scott "Too Hot" Taylor) was born. The team
found themselves in a division that was predominantly made up of larger teams, and as a result, they came out on
the losing side of things the majority of the time. Finally they decided to undergo a change in gimmick. Just as
if they'd walked out of the Offspring music video "Pretty Fly for a White Guy", Christopher and Taylor
turned into Grandmaster Sexay and Scotty Too Hotty, collectively known as Too Cool. After just one appearance on
WWF television, the Grandmaster suffered a serious knee injury and was out of action for a number of months. Scotty
was placed on the sidelines while waiting for Sexay's return. Finally in late 1999, the Grandmaster was back, and
so was Too Cool. This time around however, their cheesy dancing and mic spots turned them into a duo that the fans
enjoyed to watch and laugh along with. Their subsequent partnership (and choreographed dance numbers) with Rikishi
Phatu solidified the team as a popular WWF attraction.
For the first time in their respective WWF careers, Too Cool is enjoying a
tremendous amount of success. They're loved for their gimmicks and dancing, and appear to love doing it at the
same time. Their in-ring success has also improved, as they've scored several wins over other teams and are now
considered one of the most competitive duos in the WWF.
