A few years ago, Jerry Lawler introduced Dr. Isaac Yankem, D.D.S. to the WWF
audience. The gimmick, that of a dentist, didn't pan out. Then in late 1996, Jim Ross brought Diesel back to the
WWF, played by a wrestler other than the original Diesel, Kevin Nash. Again, the fans didn't take to him. Both
men were portrayed by Glen Jacobs.
Trained by Al Snow, Jacobs gained his first national notoriety in the now-defunct
Smoky Mountain Wrestling organization. Known as Unibomb (and later as Doomsday), Jacobs tagged up regularly with
his trainer before the big opportunity came...
In mid-1997, Paul Bearer told the world that the Undertaker's brother Kane
was still alive. Bearer said that Kane had been burned in a fire supposedly started by UT when they were children;
a fire that killed UT and Kane's parents. But Kane was alive, and was out to get revenge on his older brother.
After weeks and weeks of anticipation, Kane made his WWF debut at IYH: Badd Blood in October of '97. He involved
himself in the Undertaker's cage match against Shawn Michaels, tombstoning his brother and setting him up for the
loss.
Ever since this debut, Kane has been both The Undertaker's friend and foe at
different times. The two had their first big clash at Wrestlemania XIV (a match Kane lost) and have had countless
since, including the first ever Inferno Match. But they've also had several tag team matches together, and were
responsible for costing Steve Austin the world title on a couple of occasions. One of those occasions saw Kane
become the world champion himself as he defeated Austin in a "First Blood Match" at the 1998 King of
the Ring.
Despite his overwhelming presence individually, Kane has enjoyed the most success
on the tag team front. He is a multi-time tag team champion, having teamed with both Mankind and X-Pac. It was
Kane's partnership with X-Pac in particular that allowed the fans to see for the first time the human instincts
that Kane does indeed possess. He displayed his loyalty to X-Pac in good times and bad, and began to express his
emotions, something he'd never done before. This has made Kane a different wrestler, as he now appears to have
focus and other goals in mind besides destroying whomever enters his path. Whether in tag team or singles action,
"The Big Red Machine", the seven foot monster, isn't to be taken lightly.
